All I get is a little more than four hours of sleep a day...
As for LoTR, once you read that, you will have trouble reading The Hobbit again. |

The world of the hobbit is "smaller" in a sense.

Read them in this order: The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion (If you want to, that is), Other books pertaining to Middle Earth such as Unfinished Tales (Can be read before Silmarillion) Lost Tales and History of Middle Earth (Ten book series).

After LoTR, The Hobbit is kind of boring.
I have yet to get through The Silmarrillion yet... to many more interesting/engaging books for me to read first. |

That may be so, but Harry Potter is still very good. There must be some reason why so many people read it.
![]() That being said, I do think there are many books that are far better. Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, for example. Or many of Neil Gaiman's books (including their collaborative effort Good Omens.) Douglas Adams, for obvious reasons. ![]() LoTR is much better written. Then again, it is much better written than most books. A little obtuse at times (the first time I read it, I skipped over most of Frodo & Sam's journey after the Breaking of the Fellowship), but... AMAZING! |

One day I'll read Harry Potter. I hope the books are much better than the movies. After the first couple, I stopped enjoying them and the last two or three were immensely boring.

It is for this reason that no movie based on a book can ever be good. ![]() The books are better because... well... they exist! The movie is always stupid! Obviously, this doesn't work in reverse. The inherent power of books is dominant. ![]() </rant> Sorry, I'll just get off this soapbox now, shall I? ![]() |
