I never bought mine [used, by the way] for PDF reading. I don't really read many PDFs; when I do, I resort to my newly-acquired iPad.

What I mainly bought my Kindle DX-G for is the reading of novels: specifically, fiction in mobi format. It's great for that.

Oh, I do!

My most favored ebook reader at the moment, however, is my newly-acquired Kobo Aura HD with its beautiful screen.

Plus, I have two 6-inch readers.

And a Kobo Mini!

And a Kindle HD!

And a iPad!

If it's for PDFs, get a tablet instead. If you need it for books, a regular Kindle PW.

I would say the DXG is now obsolete. Is still used by some, but most tablets like iPads do the same and more for just a few extra bucks, with similar or less weight.

I have all my readers in one room (the computer room). When I want to read in bed, then I get my Kobo Aura HD and then go to bed and turn off the lights and read.

When I go to the living room, I go to the computer room and get my Kobo Aura HD and then walk into the living room and read.

I do this with every room......except, of course, the bathroom.

Btw,could you help me this: the people who want to sell me dx said the model number is D000801, I cannot find which generation this is and whether it has 3g. can you point to link for more info?

Do you mean D00801? I'm seeing that number associated with both the DX International (GSM version of the original DX) and the DX Graphite on various websites. The best way to tell the DX model is the serial number, if it starts with B004 it's the original one with US only CDMA wireless, if it's B005 it's the GSM International version and if it starts with B009 it's the DX Graphite with the Pearl screen.

Just a comment on the DX for general reading. I love mine since I prefer not reading on a 6" screen. We have 2 regular Kindles but they see little usage anymore. Too many page turns for my taste, too much like reading one of those "Big Little Books" that I had growing up. I love the full size screen and simply don't have an issue carrying it when I go somewhere. No subway, so I basically carry it out to the car and from the car to where I'm going. Not a big deal.

I've wanted a DX long before I ever got a Kindle, but refused to pay the ridiculous prices that were asked. When they went on sale some time back I snatched one up, and use it constantly. I thought it would be kind of a pain since it doesn't have Wi-Fi for library books, but the upside is I don't have to worry about my overdue books going away until I'm done. And it turns out to be pretty much a non-issue. Hook up the USB cable and download directly to the DX.

In short, I love my DX. Just remember: "Size Matters".
