Oh, yes - Thank you. ![]() As a moderator here, I try to keep up on the Kobo threads, since my first Kobo (the Glo) was purchased about 1 1/2 years ago. Now that I own THREE (!), I must be somewhat crazy! ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks. ![]() |

I bought the Mini in January 2013 and I liked it at the minute I unboxed it. Yet, when the Aura HD was released (around May here), I *had* to get one. The Aura has been calling my name several times but so far I've been keeping it away (after a two-week test, though) and I really don't know if I'll have enough willpower when the next device will hit the stores.
In a nutshell, I understand you ![]() |

Making a pattern for such a simple pouch is easy. Make a paper pattern and pin it to approximate sewing to size. Allow about 1/4 inch or 6 MM to have area for sewing. This is easy beginner project that could be done with or without sewing machine. I'm a old man that learned basic sewing craft, bicycle repair, engine maintenance, basic electricity/electronics and many other useful things as a young boy growing up on a farm.

I'm having a leather sleeve made by one of the artisans set up here in Miraflores, and it's supposed to be ready on Friday afternoon.
The price is 25 soles, which is roughly $9.00 I'll take a photo of it and upload it here on Saturday. All they did was measure the Kobo Mini, but my fear is that the sleeve may be too tight or too loose. If that is the situation, then I won't finalize the payment and I'll have them adjust it if they want to collect the remaining 15 soles. |

I took it down there with me so they could see it and measure it. My concern is whether they're 'clever' enough to adjust for it actually being able to fit go inside - to be secure and not loose. We'll see...... |

No, you don't understand.
You should have *given* them a Kobo Mini. Or do you expect them to come looking for you reach time they're going to make a case now? No. Didn't think so either. |

Hahahaha! ![]() ![]() ![]() You need to live in a third-world country....Giving them the Kobo would be like....actually GIVING them the Kobo and saying goodbye to it! On another note: The artisans are set up every weekend in a kind of round-about in the park. It's mainly there for gringos and other innocents, cheap-jack stuff that caters to the tourists. One of the vendors there has a booth and I noticed some leather pouches, etc., the stuff that the tourists flock to like flies on a carcass. Giving her 10 soles and, with the reassurance from me that it must fit if I am to pay the remaining 15 soles, was my guarantee. From my years of living here, this is a guarantee that is easily established, since 15 soles is like a small fortune for the less fortunate. They'll do their best to attempt to fulfill the order. So, if they don't get the fit correct on the first try, they'll continue to do so until they get it right. They can't afford to pass by on those 15 soles: It represents too much money to them. A TRUE STORY: I find myself smiling when a Peruvian offers a discount on an item. They'll take, for example, 3 soles ($1.08) off of an item that might be priced at $100 dollars (s/275.00). This is actually true, and not just in my experience, either. They protect, with security locks, such things as flash cards and - again, this is true! - mouthwash. And then, these kinds of things in turn [not the mouthwash, though; mainly electronic stuff] are protected under locked glass cases. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 05-22-2014 at 09:17 PM. |

How and why did you end up over there; running from a very persistent lady?

![]() -- But you're not off the mark by much! ![]() ![]() ![]() ADDED: Hopefully, today the sleeve will be ready. If not, then they'll have to modify it to fit, which will mean another week. ---If it turns out fine, then I may buy another one but have the inside modified in a different way, perhaps experimenting with a felt interior. Or other suggestions, perhaps? Last edited by Dr. Drib; 05-23-2014 at 07:24 AM. |

LOL. Was it The Elenium, in which a character was running from a very ugly but persistent woman? I already forgot.
I'd certainly go for a felt, suède or velours inside. |

When I get it, I'll attempt to take photos of the inside, as well. I don't think many companies are taking advantage of making specifically-sized sleeves for ebook readers. The one felt one from Etsey (?) was way over-priced, in my opinion (+ combined with the shipping). (If you're talking about David Eddings, unfortunately it's been awhile since I read one of his books.) |
