The Divine Comedy. By Dante Alighieri. $4.95. I listened to a little bit of the audio and I thought that the narration was acceptable. Audible's price at the present moment is $19.95 (will Audible sometimes match the prices of competitors as its sister company Amazon will sometimes do? Does anyone know?). At Audible it is currently rated 3.7 stars from 192 ratings.

The Plantagenets. By Dan Jones. $6.95. Audible's price at the present moment is $20.95. At Audible it is currently rated 4.1 stars from 195 ratings.
Thanks - both titles added to OP

The Divine Comedy is the current deal of the week and The Plantagenets is a bonus offer. Both are available for free listening at OverDrive libraries. Which libraries carry them is another matter.

For Whispersync, The Divine Comedy is $2.99 if you own the Kindle ebook that is currently unavailable. The Plantagenets is $7.99/ $5.49 for the pair.

All six of my Audible purchases during April were Whispersync pairs. One was even free. I received the $10 credit without having to call them.

Yes, that's the first thing that I do nowadays when I find an audiobook that I'm interested in. But, thanks for checking. Those can be great deals and, although I've only known about this procedure for a couple of months, I've already used it to save several dollars.

As I mentioned to someone else--I don't remember if it was on this thread or another one--right now I'm working on getting library cards from area libraries that my local library has reciprocal agreements with, to broaden the number and selection of ebooks that I can check out, and therefore (for many of them) get the Whispersync pricing on the audio versions.

I passed on The Divine Comedy, also. I have difficulty concentrating (sometimes I think that I have adult ADD (seriously)) and, as I mentioned to David Munch, this is one of those things where you have to pay attention to to keep from getting "lost."

I appreciate all of your hard work, especially in the audiobook areas of the MR site.

I'd say Jermaine was winging it with that answer and is completely wrong.

So I used that for Carpe Diem in the scifi sale and still have a few dollars over. I'll probably use that for a whispersync title.

I used a credit to buy Local Custom as I want to try and read the Liaden books in order. (I have read Agent Of Change in ebook, but that was a freebie.)
Oh, good. I think you'll enjoy them!

I'm in the same boat. I got the $5 Facebook credit, spent it on 5 Whispersync titles, and I got the $10 credit with no issue.

I am one of those who wasn't supposed to get a $10 credit from Audible, but did. This morning, I think that it was, I noticed that my balance in Audible was much higher than I expected; I didn't know why. Well, later in the day I checked my email and had a message from Audible that explained to me why-the message told me that they had credited my account $10 for the "$10 for 4" promotion.

I may have purchased the required four books whose regular price was $14.95 (or whatever the threshold was) (if I did, it was only by purchasing several Audible Deals of the Day during the applicable time period, because I bought very few otherwise). So, I don't really question my eligibility there.

Where I really do question my eligibility is in the fact that I wasn't supposed to get the $10 credit is that I don't have a "credit" membership--I have the "Listener Light" plan.

Fortunately enough this one was open to anyone with an Audible account who made the requisite 4 purchases. I have no membership but got the $10 credit. They advertised this one not only through the Audible site but with a banner ad on the app's store (from an Android device; I understand iThings don't get this) and on the Amazon Audible page. Their customer service people were a little fuzzy on the details (what else is new) but my credit came in just fine.

I wouldn't question it for that reason. Audible puts out a lengthy list of eligibility T&Cs for these sales.. If they don't specifically restrict a sale to "credit members" only, then it must be open to anyone with an account.

Here's a good deal today on AI Apocalypse, the second of William Hertling's Singularity series.
The first in the series is part of the current SF sale.

Today Big Finish continues to make Dr. Who, but has also branched out into other adaptations of classic television, literature, and even original fantasy.

There are not a lot of freebies floating around Big Finish's website. They do, however, have an official Soundcloud page. They use it to post trailers and podcasts about upcoming releases. Scattered around these posts are a few complete offerings, mostly from promotional releases that are no longer available for sale. If you go here you'll be able to sample just a taste of why they leave me broke from time to time. If you're a Dr. Who fan in particular I highly recommend them.
Great find - thanks! This is the first time I've heard of Big Finish. Anyway, I'm a big Doctor Who fan and downloaded all eight tracks plus the Holmes track.

Oh, if you're a Doctor Who fan, and like audiobooks, you'll be in heaven with the Big Finish stuff. They have quite a few episodes of Torchwood as well if you liked that, both with various original actors reading them, and full cast stories as well. I found some of the Torchwood stuff with Burn Gorman as the reader quite entertaining and it was available at my local libraries website.

I may have been getting this $10 for 4 promotion mixed up with the previous one, which I am sure (well, pretty sure anyway) Listener Light members were not eligible for. Sometimes all of these promotions start running together (Audible, if you're monitoring these messages, I am not complaining that we are having too many sales. haha). I wonder if that might be the reason that even the customer service people "were a little fuzzy on the details."
