If a book doesn't have an ePub or PDF download link in your library then you'll need either a Kobo app or the Kobo Desktop to download it.

Ugh you bought a book in dreaded kepub format. You can only read it on a Kobo device or via the Kobo PC reader. I believe there is no way to actually download the book to your computer if you don't have a Kobo device, but hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You can download it with the Kobo Desktop. Visit our friend Alf or Google "obok" for info on freeing it (provided it's a kePub and not some fixed format magazine or something) and turning it into a regular ePub.
