It seems these "discounted books" are not Kobo's mistake, since Google Play India is offering same titles at the discounted price.
Amazon India also had "discount" but as far as I have seen, only for one day, then the prices went back to "normal".
I wonder if it's a glitch at publishers's server or something...
Amazingly, on Kobo India and Google Play Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami (release date August 12) is also available for pre-order for 1.68 INR.

I'm wondering if some of the authors are going to be quite entertained at the thought of having and Indian readership of their books, which probably aren't translated into Hindi.

And wondering to themselves that as the English readers in India like the books maybe the Hindi readers will like them as well!!

After all these excellent value books are all on Kobo's 50 top Indian sellers list.

@kiya that Leon book has been that price for a couple of weeks now, so it makes me wonder how long this India sale has been going on for.

I do note however that the latest Leon book only reduced in price over the last 3 or so days. But given that Kobo only released it on 4 April at over 1800 INR that's a huge price drop to what it is now.

Yes, we end up confused when things like this happen. Every now and then an author will talk about a sudden surge of sales in Germany or Japan--and wonder if they have been discovered...after following this thread I think it's more likely something similar to this pricing.

I didn't know that. I was not looking for her books since I didn't read anything from her and I honestly don't need another series to start right now. I just thought that it was quite cheap.

I'm afraid of it, though. Not so much that they won't honor it when it finally publishes in 3+ months (in which case I haven't really lost anything anyway), but rather that they will, but it won't be downloadable as an epub. So much of the kobo stuff I've been interested in lately hasn't been, which means nothing but a lost sale.

Agreed about kepubs. Though, for this amount of money I think it's worth a risk. But my credit card has expiry date before August, so I can't try my luck.
I frankly think they'll reimburse all money for low price preorders, but let's see.

ETA: I did buy Karl Ove Knausgaard's Boyhood Island, the third book of My Struggle for similar amount

This is really gorgeous. I just looked at the TOP50 and the recommendations here, I bought about 23 books, just the one I am really interested. I don't take books just cause they are free ore very cheep.

And every book I bought is available as EPUB. And even if the Murakami will not available as EPUB I just lost a few cents ;-)

"Great British Bake Off: Winter Kitchen " was KEPUB-only. But it is just a few cents. So I did not check before...

Looks like most Head of Zeus books are discountable - have to admit, took me a try or two before I realized the discount only applies to one book in the cart.
