Well, if I'm ¶ositively s¶eechless, a¶¶arently no one else is.

My guess, for what it's worth, is that someone converted from a UNIX file format. But still, that's bizarre.

That is very strange. Is it possible that they used MS Word and anchored each paragraph as if it were a separate image file?

Ok, so here's the final report on the knee. Knot only is there a hole in the bone underneath the lower apparatus, it looks like, according to the bone scan, that the glue has failed. Even though I'm not having problems with the upper apparatus, because the replacement will be substantially different both have to be replaced :/. I had put off some seriously needed dental work after the initial surgery because you have to for two years, then I had the cancer issue with a family member so that was another year. I MUST get that done now, it can't wait another two years. That is being accelerated. I'm looking at surgery mid to late June I guess. I've been to an attorney, there is definitely a case. Apparently we need to let the insurance company initiate a lot of it because of course they're not going tio be very happy shelling out that much more money. What's really infuriating to me, aside from the incompetence/errors is that the surgeon continuously treated me like someone who was only after narcotics, to the point he had referred me to a rehab clinic. He never once went after the source of the pain that both he and his nurse insisted simply could not exist after so many weeks post op. There was only ever this level of arrogance that he was perfect and nothing could possibly be wrong

That makes story makes my neck hurt in sympathetic rage and frustration.

I am going through a similar but opposite situation where the doctor(s) want to give me more drugs rather than finding out what is causing the pain.

Hope it all goes better for you.

I'll tell you right now, GO TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!! I think that these surgeons/doctors become so arrogant that they cannot get close to admitting that they are wrong. to everyone's detriment

Yup. I'm glad you actually know WHY now, but it's exactly as I expected. There just shouldn't be any real pain after the first few months, and really not much at all after the first 2-4 weeks, except for that associated with PT. So the bad news is, you'll spend the summer recovering instead of working. The good news is that it's a lot more fun to recover on this coast in the summer when walks are enjoyable and it's only rarely too hot to be pleasant.

Not quite in the position at the moment as the Doctor I was referred to is the top specialist in BC. And it is a recent referral so I am not going to discount him immediately. But other than that I am afraid I agree with you completely.

Hey, guys/gals:

Honestly, haven't a clue. By all rights, what we're seeing isn't possible. Word handles paragraph markers (pilcrows) differently than HTML/CSS, by and large.

In HTML/CSS, we tell the paragraph what form it's going to take at the beginning, using the id, or inline CSS, or a named CSS style, etc. In Word, the opposite is true--all the CSS is carried in the pilcrow mark at the END of the paragraph. (This is why, boys and girls, if you hit the "backspace" key too enthusiastically, backing up into a previous paragraph, the carefully-done formatting that you thought you'd done, disappears! You heard it here first, assuming arguendo that you didn't know that before. Back over the prior paragraph's pilcrow, and you've destroyed its destructions on how to display. Yes, that's YOU I'm looking at--you know who you are, you've done this in creative, typing fury, and then stared at the resulting carnage in frustration....)

Ergo, finding pilcrows in the left-hand margin--before a line--makes NO sense. They are effectively lost. They are either midstream, or...I admit, I haven't played with this at all. Haven't exported it to HTML, to see what the HELL that is. Or even changed the size/shape of the page, to see what happens. I should, if for no other reason than to provide data for we of the Wu-MR Clan. BUT, I tell you, my brothers and sisters, that should NOT be. It's like...mutant code. Even if it were somehow created in HTML (or NTP, NT, some text editor), it should not display like that, if naught else.

I'll play with it. We'll see what it is. We have an obligation to humanity not to let mutant code loose in the world, to mingle with clean code DNA. We need to involve the World Code Health Organization, given the danger of mutant Code-NA getting out. Just think what would happen if this code BRED with clean code!

Ye Gods, the Code-manity!

Let us know what you find. That is indeed a curiosity. Almost as if those pilcrows had been deliberately planted in those places just to confound an editor.

Helen, the top Ortho surgeon in the Kingdom, (trained in the US, with surgical privileges in several major US hospitals,) the only one permitted to attend the Royal Family, diagnosed my back problems as requiring spinal fusion. He put me in a full back brace, dosed me heavily with muscle relaxants and opiate pain meds, and we were awaiting an OR opening when I met Dr. Jolie Bookspan. She said 'don't let them cut!' and gave me a series of movement exercises to do... Within just a couple of weeks I was out of the brace, no longer taking the pain meds, and haven't had a problem with my back since! The point is, just because a doctor is called 'the top specialist in the country' it doesn't mean he's the best doctor in the country, or knows how to do anything other than cut. If you only have a hammer, every job requires a nail. A surgeon only has a scalpel...
