1st Gen iPod touch won't run newer apps, and it has a very low resolution screen. I wouldn't bother with getting one even if it was free. I suggest if you want an iPod touch get a 5th Gen so that it will support more apps for a little longer.

That wasn't the point. I can get one right now, six years after it was released, whether or not I will is an entirely different question.
