Does anyone have Oyster and if so how does it compare to Scribd? FWIW I read mostly romance (duh!), YA, mystery, and nonfiction like self-help and memoirs.

I can't seem to find a complete listing of the books available by genre on Oyster, at least on Scribd, even without a subscription, you can see the exact numbers. So I compared some of the books they pull up on Oyster when you click on romance. Pretty much everything I see on Oyster, in the limited selection they give me, is on Scribd. The only publisher I noticed so far that is on Oyster, but not on Scribd is Crimson Romance.

And I don't know if self published works are on Oyster like they are on Scribd through Smashwords. That gives some of the back list stuff and bigger SP authors that aren't doing the Select thing so they aren't exlusive on Amazon. Those are the ones I can't get through prime lending for example. I was just reading "The Will" by Kristen Ashley on Scribd for example. Didn't like it, but there it is.

eta: forgot to add that Oyster is only for Apple devices right now. They don't even have an android app.

Well that settles it for me. The only Apple device I have is an old iPod touch that won't accept any new apps.

I have the same issue. I only have an old iphone3 because its my pre paid phone that doesn't technically work with the plan I am using it for. The plan is for dumb phones. I can only use it for phone calls, no data.
So I can't update the thing, not that I want to anyway I don't have itunes and so can't use most apps. Even the kindle app has finally given up working.

I have now followed publisher that have a lot of romance on Scribd so I can find some of the books faster. HarperCollins, Open Road Integrated Media, Diversion Books and Sourcebooks are the 4 I have so far. To find the publishers just put the name in search bar and on the bottom of the drop down you'll see the publisher logo to follow.

I found 20 books so far that I put in my library to read later and that aren't available as either a prime loan or at my libraries from overdrive. That is my criteria right now to see the value of the subscription over the next 3 month. Some of those books are either a first in a series or just one of an author, so there are more to be had.

I need to find a way to swing the Nexus 7 as it seems to be I might be able to work with that. Based on Blossom and others. Not sure yet how I will do that. I would get the fire HDX if I didn't hear about the blue around the edges which would drive me absolutely insane. Pondering that and what phone and plan I need to get. Must be under $25 a month and I have a couple of options, just a money issue with the phones.

I use AT&T GoPhone, unlimited texting, 250 min calls/month, android wifi (no data) for $25/month.

Yeah, but for that money $25 I can get unlimited phone, texting and 5 GB of data from republic wireless. If I stay off data outside of wifi it is only $10 for the same plan Att offers, actually there is no limits of calling minutes on RW. That is why this cell phone business is so hard for me to figure out. Have to buy the phone and then it has to work on on the system. Right now I got the Att gophone plan paying 10 cents a minute and I only have to put on $100 a year, or $25 every 3 month. But its only suppose to be used with dumb phones and my old iphone is about to give up.

If I had the money I would buy one of those 6 inch phablets and then I wouldn't have to contemplate getting a nexus for reading too. . I don't know if I want phone and tablet in one though.

I use GoPhone also. I had the $25 a month plan with a small amount of data that cost an extra $5 IIRC (just for emergencies because most of the time I'm close to either a WiFI hotspot or a computer). I upgraded to a $40 a month plan because I wanted more data--with that I get 500 minutes of talk, unlimited texts and 500 MB of data.

I just switch to Straight Talk which is $45 a month for unlimited but the data really isn't unlimited. You can't stream, download or upload anything or they cut you off. So it like a dumb phone with some smart features.

It looks great from the specs. I'm drooling over the 64GB model. I'm a podcast and audiobook junkie and my 16GB Nexus 4 is always running out of storage.

I was reading about the other day on Engadget. I'm planning on upgrading my S3 so I'll be watching for reviews on this one. So far the HTC One M8 is the leading contender even though I'm not thrilled with the camera. For now I'm watching for rumors on the next Nexus.

I'm not sure how Mistorical I would say it is. Cat 3 maybe? The writing is right, the dialogue is good but the blurb is horrible on this one! It does not do the writing skill justice that I found inside. This is about older woman and younger man. The plot could be plausible I suppose.

I don't know Blossom. I have not read it and probably will not get to it for a few months. Currently reading 2 thrillers and an inspirational shaker romance. (Yes, this is why I have so many devices, bedroom, office, car lol)
