3. People who say, “You do know it’s just a book, right?”

This reminds me of a woman I worked with for one school year back in 2001-02. We were discussing the characters in a series of books we both loved (I got her hooked on them). The discussion went on and on, and we were really into it, when someone asked how we had so many friends in common since they didn't think we hung out together after work or on weekends.

We had to explain we were discussing book characters and they got this strange look on their face. They asked how we could discuss characters like we knew them since they didn't exist and "they're just books". We just laughed and went back to what we were talking about.
