Save to Options??
Is there a way to save all the books by a given author in just 1 folder rather than having them all under that name but in seperate sub folders?
For example is there a way to set things up in Calibre so that all the books by A.C. Doyle go into the folder with his name on it, but they don't each end up with their own separate folder within the A. C. Doyle folder? |

Instead of default {author_sort}/{title}/{title} - {authors} try something like this: {authors}/{series}/{series_index:0>3s|| - }{title} - {authors} For explanation see https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...60#post2664960 https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...72#post2207272 |

You cannot change how Calibre names And organises book files it stores within its own library, but you can change the names used when exporting books from the library as mentioned in the previous post.

The template can be 'intelligent', so if you say what you are getting; the template you are using; and what you would like to see, then you are likely to get some suggestions as to how to set the template up to achieve the desired result.

Doyle, Arthur C. list of books instead of having every book in a separate folder within the folder with the author's name. The template that kacir mentioned seems to do that fairly well. The only difference is that it's 1) authors name 2) unlabeled folder 3) list of books instead of: 1) authors name 2) list of books With the default template it was: 1) authors name 2)folder for book 1 2a) book 3) folder for book 2 3a) book etc. |

Personally, I would use
Code:
{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)}/{title} - {authors:sublist(0,1,&)} Also, having the author name in the ebook file wasn't explicitly mentioned as a problem, so I'd leave it in. I would just modify the default template to suit. Last edited by eschwartz; 04-27-2014 at 01:10 AM. |

If the author has no series, then all the books are inside one folder with author name. If there are series, there is exactly one subfolder for each series and the books inside that folder are numbered. I was hoping you would take time to read comment in the two links that I provided and modify the template to suit your exact needs. You can go wild and construct any directory and file naming structure using this template language. You can have all books dumped in a single directory, like so: {authors|| - }{series|| }{series_index:0>3s|| - }{title} |
