I went to buy a book that Goodreads states to be released on March 11, but in all shops, it's on pre-order for June 8, and they don't take coupons for that as far as I've seen.

Dratz.

I haven't bought a book in days! I even managed to resist the lure of the 50% rebate over at ARe.

Of course (blush) I did buy an expensive - for me - scanner so I can finally work through those books in my paper library that will probably never have an ebook available.

Oh well. One step forward and I think ten back...

No, I can't go that far. It definitely counts.

But it is fun. Not a dull linear narrative, but an interesting tale interspersed with details of the hands of her time in the EPA competition. And with lots of wit.

I thought I was doing good and then read one of my freebees from January to try out some features on the new Kindle (especially the TTS). It was so good, I read straight through and then bought the next 3 in the series. All I can say is that I will reading them almost right away (M R Mathias - the Legend of Vanx Malic- Through the Wildwood ). I have to finish my April book club books first.

Finding a new author/series you like is wonderful. Buying the rest of the series immediately if they're not on special offer isn't so good.

In such cases, if you really can't resist going on to the next book in the series, buy just the next one.

Add the rest to a book watching site like luzme.com. Who knows — before you finish the next one, the others might become available in a special offer, or a good coupon code might come along!

Yup, I'm currently doing that on two series. I did buy the next in the series, but I've been patiently waiting for either a really good coupon or for any of the rest of the books to go on sale. Or show up at my public library.

Kobo coupons have ruined me! Especially the multiple use 90% off which came up. I now use a spreadsheet to keep track of my expenditure and to make sure I stay within my monthly budget for ebooks :P

I didn't even know they had coupons like that. They have had some deals through BookBub. Sony only seemed to offer deals on books I wouldn't want anyway.

The 90% off ones are somewhat rare and it being reusable was actually a glitch. Not that I was above using it a little. :P But they have contests at least once a month that give out 75% (and lower) ones. People are usually pretty generous when it comes to these, especially if you are active in the forums.

---------------

I have been doing pretty well this month.

I bought 4 books for a total of $13.76. (Average: $3.44 each)
I used a coupon on each of them. One is an omnibus. I am kicking myself that I didn't wait because I "only" used 55% ones that I got myself and had I waited a couple of hours, I would have actually been able to grab a higher one. :P But, I'm overall happy with these purchases.

I know "freebies don't count" here, but I have a problem with grabbing too many. I did alright and only grabbed 10. (This is not counting cook-, crafting, or children's books, these don't count for me at all.)

I feel it's better than last month although my average last month was lower.
24 books (2 omnibus) $34.94 total ($1.46 average) 16 on wishlist/radar of reading.

--------------
Next month's plans...
I've got 3 books I really want that are unlikely to come down in price and are not couponable in the US. (I'm not comfortable traveling.) These are books I really do want and would read right away so I think I'm going to just go ahead and buy them when I get the chance.
I'll likely not even be able to get them all next month - so we'll see. I do have these all on Luzme just in case though!

Not to suggest anyone should violate their plans for not buying books, but I noticed last night that several Perry Mason books are on sale at Amazon (US) for $.99 or $1.99. I bought two of the $.99 ones.

I saw that sale as well and succumbed to buying 3 $.99 ones. I'm really trying hard not to go back and get the others. I always liked Perry Mason!
