I usually read on the K3 & DXG, very happily except for needing a light at night.
I do 99% of my reading on my Nexus 7. I also have a PW which I'll use outside in direct sunlight but I go months without picking it up. I absolutely love my Nexus 7 2nd generation (2nd gen is very important, this is the model with the higher pixel density). The only thing I don't like about it is that it has left me nothing to want in an upgrade cause I love gadget shopping!

Embattled Minds by JM Madden, $0.99

I read the first book, Embattled Hearts (also currently $0.99) and it was pretty good. The series features heroes who are veterans with disabilities.

I think I'm going to get the N7 after all I have money burning a hole in my pocket now and this may be the only way I ever get to watch Battlestar Galactica 2nd gen.

These posts are making me miss the Nexus 7 even more! We had one but gave it to my parents when we upgraded to the Kindle HDX 8.9." I even thought about getting a Nexus 7 for myself instead of a new Kindle Paperwhite if they ever come out with one. I'm used to it now, but the Kindle Paperwhite used to hurt my eyes when I was reading in the dark even with it turned down to the lowest level.

As much as I still love my Sony, the Nexus has become my primary reading device. I feel bad about the Kobo mini I won as I've only read maybe 3 or 4 books on it. It's a lovely size for sticking in my purse, but I find myself usually cramming my Nexus in my purse instead
Same here my Kindles are collecting dust. Well I use my Kindle Fire to play Candy Crush but I only read on my Nexus 7. My eInk Kindles are very very lonely.

I have the same problem with the Kindle Paperwhite. Front light is just not for me. It gives me really bad eye strain. I still can't believe you got rid of your Nexus 7.

I know only my mom has done lots of free babysitting for us and has contributed so much to my kids' college saving account, I feel like it's the least we can do for my parents. I wonder what the new Nexus models will be like. I like the size of the Paperwhite at least. If I got a 7" tablet to replace it I don't know if I'd take it to work with me like I do with the Paperwhite. It's a little heavier and I feel like it would be more of a target for thieves. Then I've also thought about getting a Samsung Note phone because the size of the screen would be better for reading than my current phone (Google Nexus 4) and more portable than the Nexus 7" tablet. I wish I could afford all of the gadgets!

BTW, IIRC a few of you have bought Cara McKenna books [apesmom? AuntyKat? I don't remember who], anyways, just finished Hard Time by her, wow, loved her writing and it was super steamy. I would classify as Contemporary Romance, but it was such a unique story, gave it a solid 4. It is NOT on sale right now, but it is available at Kobo if you want to hold out for a code.
Here's the blurb:
Annie Goodhouse doesn’t need to be warned about bad boys; good sense and an abusive ex have given her plenty of reasons to play it safe. But when she steps into her new role as outreach librarian for Cousins Correctional Facility, no amount of good sense can keep her mind—or eyes—off inmate Eric Collier.

Eric doesn’t claim to be innocent of the crime that landed him in prison. In fact, he’d do it again if that’s what it took to keep his family safe. Loyalty and force are what he knows. But meeting Annie makes him want to know more.

When Eric begins courting Annie through letters, they embark on a reckless, secret romance—a forbidden fantasy that neither imagines could ever be real…until early parole for Eric changes everything, and forces them both to face a past they can’t forget, and a desire they can’t deny.

I read two novellas by Cara McKenna--Her Best Laid Plans (just published) and Ready and Willing--and really liked her writing in these. I have another of her books about a sculptor, written under the name Meg Maguire that I didn't really get into. I have an e-galley of Hard Time that I still haven't read

The rumors I've been reading have them launching a Nexus 8 (8.9?) this year. Supposedly to be built by HTC vs the 7s which were built by Asus. As a reading device this might prove to be less ideal for 2 reasons:
1. Size
2. If they use the same resolution (I'll be surprised if they increase it) that is currently on the 7 that means lower pixel density which translates to less sharp text. In my opinion this contributes greatly to eye strain.

Also, my Nexus 7 goes everywhere with me. I have zero issues with portability.

Yup, I've grabbed that one as well the previous 2 Intermix titles. Haven't read any of them yet but looking forward to them. I also have some of her upcoming releases on my wish list.

Seems like her earlier works are not rated that highly, but I made sure to buy whatever I didn't already have of hers from 2013+. I love it when you get surprised in such a good way, her writing just came across as very strong to me.

Apesmom, when you say upcoming release, I'm guessing you're referring to: Lay it Down, um....yeah....met too!

I picked that up after it was given a good review by Maryse. Happy to hear others like it. I'll probably have to wait till after the move and set up to read it though.

Right now I am packing and sorting through everything. No time to read much of anything at the moment.

Yes I find the 8.9" Kindle Fire awkward to hold for reading especially while lying down in bed. I heard the same rumors about a larger Nexus tablet so we'll wait to see what they come up with. It would be nice to have access to the whole Google Play store. Though you can sideload apps to the Kindle some of them stop working when required updates are rolled out--specifically the games that my ds likes playing such as Clash of Clans.
