I've toyed with light, color settings (no night mode, sorry, too similar to an standard term - so work), a lot of things and, in the end, I get eye strain, something which doesn't happen with the e-ink.

Blossom, I'll try but I don't know if it will help. I'm in front of a computer screen around 10/12 hours a day. After that, the only thing my poor eyes can bear is a e-ink screen. But I'll give it a try.

I found for computer screens I have to keep the brightness and contrast down too. I have problems with bright light like sun light or florescent light. My eyes will start to flicker and I can't see a thing. |

I use the Mantano app which allows me to adjust the lighting by swiping up or down on the left side of the screen. I also have the Screen Filter app installed, though I haven't really used that one. Plus using background colors rather than a white background helps. |

I firmly believe that most peoples eyestrain problems could be resolved by getting glasses, but most would rather live in denial rather than accept with grace that they are getting older and the eyes are not what they used to be. Last edited by cfrizz; 04-22-2014 at 07:29 PM. |

I get you though with denial. Hubby is one of those. I wish I could drag him to the eye doctor. He never needed any glasses so he makes do. I cannot relate to that as I have always needed something. I get checked each year. I only have one good eye, I have to keep it going for reading. ![]() |

If you had to chose, just for reading, which would it be? BTW - I bought a ton of books at the AR 50% rebate sale. Not sure why, but I seem to be in a Old West (mail order brides, outlaws, indians...+ some sci fi and paranormal) mood, so collected quite a few. Plus, found the latest Delphine Dryden book, "The Principle of Desire." Now I have 22$ in credit, although I used the buy-10-get-one-free coupons (2 of them!) and some credit as well to buy books. Ended up with about 40 books and spent apx $65! I also want to buy the set of "Yellowstone Romance Series" - books 2-5 - by Peggy Henderson (from Amazon $9.99). Book 1 was a freebie and I enjoyed it. But I'll wait awhile after this shopping spree ![]() |

As much as I still love my Sony, the Nexus has become my primary reading device. I feel bad about the Kobo mini I won as I've only read maybe 3 or 4 books on it. It's a lovely size for sticking in my purse, but I find myself usually cramming my Nexus in my purse instead ![]() |
