I don't like spoilers in books and even worse on TV when they show you what you're about to watch.

I've always wondered if she doesn't like too much tension in what she reads--so she checks the ending. But honestly, that's just the way she reads. She and Mom both read a LOT so in a survey of the two of them, you'd be 50/50 for spoilers.
One of my daughters has been dianosed with an anxiety disorder. Things that would cause slight or mild tension in most people will literally shut her down. She survives and remains an avid reader by skipping ahead. If the situation resolves to her satisfaction, she'll go back and read the rest, safe in the knowledge that it all works out. She's read all of the Harry Potter books that way. Even movies and TV shows are the same. She couldn't take Disney's Frozen in the theater - she had to leave part way through. Once we got the DVD version and was able to see the ending first, then she could watch the entire thing all the way through (well, mostly. There were still parts where she covered her eyes and ears, only uncovering when her sister told her the "scary" part was over).

I'm glad she's found a way to cope! And hopefully it will get easier for her as she experiences more and gets older!

She does much better than I did with Jaws. I still can't watch that movie.

I admire her fortitude and her sister for being a help. You have lovely children IMO

They're fraternal twins, so they've always been together but it's still amazing sometimes what Thing 2 will endure while trying to help Thing 1 when she melts down. We're exploring more coping strategies, but it's a slow process. However, they are terrific kids (well, most of the time, anyway). They wrap me so tightly around their fingers that I need regular chiropractic adjustments to fix my mobius spine.

No cats, just a dog that refuses to wear a hat for long. However, I almost always wear a hat outdoors to stave off elemental abuse of my ever-expanding bald spot...
