Yes. I tried the link and it worked for me. Then I switched my address to USA and it brought me to the "not available" page. Then I switched back to my Canada address and the link worked for me again.

I tried a few weeks ago to purchase an eGift card but I kept getting unavailable at this time. I asked a Kobo customer care rep and he said it's currently unavailable as they're in the process of changing over from their old site to their new site. I haven't tried again though.

You are correct, I buy so few open epubs. The few I bought are from Rocky Nook and they fall under the same class as kepub, they lack the Blackberry notation. I remember 'chatting' with Kobo support asking them what format the books were and they were zipped open epubs. I never bought and open epub that had a blank Read this On section. Remember, if in doubt ask Kobo Support. I use the chat feature and it is usually pretty fast. I will update my previous post.

Yes, on your photo, the Read This On section (bottom right) is blank, therefore this is a pdf. On the old site, it would clearly tell you that you are purchasing a ade epub or a pdf file. Be careful, Kobo may offer two listings of the same ebook, one in ade epub and the other as pdf. It is important to check the Read this On section. Usually the epub will cost a few dollars more, probably because they can.

In my experience this rarely works. Son by Lois Lowry shows these, but it is a kepub and the only way to know for sure is to add it to your library.

Yes, they haven't had them available for quite some time, at least in the US, which makes it strange that they're advertising them on the front page of the US site.

Can pdfs maybe not be added to the library? Because so far every ebook that I came across that didn't list any devices also coudn't be added to my library and I wasn't sure what the deal was with those or how I could put them on my wishlist :/

Actually, it does work and you provided the proof with your picture. The Read this On lacks the Blackberry notation, hence kepub (as in your case) or rarer an open epub as with the Rocky Nook ebooks. Here is my original post:

Here is an easy way to distinguish epub, and pdf ebooks before you buy them. This works about 95%+ of the time. Go to the "Read this On" section located on the bottom right corner of the ebook page. If the Read this On has Blackberry then it is an epub (full line: DESKTOP, eREADERS, ANDROID, TABLETS, IOS, BLACKBERRY, WINDOWS). If Blackberry is absent, DESKTOP, eREADERS, ANDROID, TABLETS, IOS, WINDOWS then it is a very good chance it is a kepub or an open epub (not always, but most of the time). If the Read this On section is blank then it is likely a pdf. This has been a very reliable way to tell them apart, works for me. Note this works only on the new Kobo websites.

If in doubt contact Kobo Customer service. The more people who bitch about this the more likely they will change it and we can save some money.

Best,
Shunter

Some countries don't have the eGift cards yet, but you can buy them in one country and gift to another country.

When I bought an eGift for myself In New Zealand, and it said I could gift it to someone in any country except Japan.

Hi Evening Green:

I do not buy too many pdf, I avoid them if I can. But all pdfs I bought are present in my library for downloading at any time. I bought two kepubs (not knowing what they were at the time), they were present in my library, but lacked a download button. I was so mad that I contacted Kobo CS and returned them. Now that I understand what they are, I would probably keep them. I am not sure about the ebooks you are referring to above; I would contact Kobo CS, this seems very strange. How do you read them?

Best,
SHunter

The same read this on for both kepub and open epub means I can't possibly know if I can read this on my ereader. I can read open epub but not kepub. A pdf can also be read on a computer, but the book shows that it can't be read on anything. This just doesn't work.

This is off topic, so I probably shouldn't continue to reply.

Yes, I understand. It seems to work best for ade epubs and pdfs. There is no way to distinguish kepubs from open epubs. For these ebooks I would recommend 'chatting' with Kobo CS, it is easy to do and it will say you some grief. Another way is to buy your ebook from another retailer and then let Kobo know they are loosing sales due to their crappy website.
