Got to confess ... my particular interest was in whether the codes and multi-tabbing still worked

Other times that Kobo has done maintenance Paypal has been moved into sites as an option or taken away from sites. And Gift Cards like wise.

So, as you know, inconsistency from Kobo is consistency!!

Romance genre, in particular Nora Roberts.

I'm getting a lot of German books in the results as well, searching by author then sorting by newest to oldest. Maybe they recently added a bunch?

If anyone still has a 75% or 65% code going spare, I'd appreciate a PM.

My wife is stealing all my codes for her books... any good soul can help me buying the mythical K&R books with some "powerful" (The K&R is €38,78! Gosh!) discount code for me? Thank you very much.

Buy a new book turns out it's a PDF

Here's the kicker. As many of you know, they don't tell you the format before you buy. They are nice enough however to warn you about it when you click the download PDF link after buying.

Hi:

Here is an easy way to distinguish epub, and pdf ebooks before you buy them. This works about 95%+ of the time. Go to the "Read this On" section located on the bottom right corner of the ebook page. If the Read this On has Blackberry then it is an epub (full line: DESKTOP, eREADERS, ANDROID, TABLETS, IOS, BLACKBERRY, WINDOWS). If Blackberry is absent, DESKTOP, eREADERS, ANDROID, TABLETS, IOS, WINDOWS then it is a very good chance it is a kepub or an open epub (not always, but most of the time). If the Read this On section is blank then it is likely a pdf. This has been a very reliable way to tell them apart, works for me. Note this works only on the new Kobo websites.

Best,
Shunter

SHunter...except sometimes that means it's a no DRM ePub. Honestly why they removed that bit of pertinent information is beyond me. If I get one that's a PDF or doesn't have a download button I ask for a refund. If enough of us complain maybe they'll put the file type back. You can try getting a sample...then the type will be listed in your library, but I have a hard time remembering to do that...and I shouldn't have to. It should tell me before I buy what I'm paying for.

I got caught out once too. But now I mostly (only mostly) look at the "eBook Information" section on the bottom left. It states whether it is going to be delivered as an ePub or a PDF. Like this one in here:

http://www.kobobooks.com/ebook/The-G...OzA/page1.html

The book itself is actually readable as a PDF on Aura, and on Amazon the same book is available as a mobi (they have some books that they will only sell as PDFs too). It pays to be super careful when shopping on Kobo's website not only becoz of this but often they have the same book available several times over at different prices.

That's just the point though. You must be seeing the old site, because on the new one there is no format info on the bottom left like there was on the old.

I found it quite ironic that they warn in big letters that you're buying a PDF after the fact, but it seems somehow typical for Kobo. I see now they are advertising eGift cards for Mother's Day on the US site, but clicking on the ad brings you to a page saying "Sorry, but this page isn’t available."

Samosa I've looked at the bottom left hand side corner as you described but the following picture is all I see.

Can you take a photo and demonstrate what you mean, because I can't identify where format is mentioned.

Thanks
