That is one state full of morally reprehensible people. FWIW, I am not a tax expert, so some of the above mentioned people may be less morally reprehensible than others. | |

When it comes to monkeys, I think the word you're looking for is prehensile. |

I'd venture to say that most people don't wish to spend the time to keep track of such things. Doing taxes takes enough time as it is without having to keep and add up a few hundred receipts.

For the people that claim ignorance about not paying sales tax, are you also the ones who complain about your income and property taxes going up because you can't figure out where the shortfall came from? And by the way, ignorance is no excuse. It's just ignorance. /soapbox But to be fair, different areas have different rules. In my state, I can spend up to $770 without paying a use tax. I rarely hit that, because I much prefer to buy locally when I can and support my neighbors and community. Last edited by pl001; 04-16-2014 at 10:23 AM. |

My state allows me to use a chart to estimate the use tax, based on adjusted gross income, if I don't want to track every receipt.

The shortfall is usually the fault of our legislators who reallocate funds for purposes they were never intended for. Use tax shortfall is a drop in the bucket compared to the former.
