Calibre 1.32.0 64-bit installation failure

I have just tried to install the Calibre 64-bit version on a Win 7 machine. It will not launch (the installer used was: calibre-64bit-1.32.0.msi). There were no error messages displayed during installation, but the program won't open now. The error message at launch is:

Python function terminated unexpectedly
Failed to load ImageMagick: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. (Error Code: 1)

I've been using the program since August of 2013; it has never failed before.

If I un-install this version and re-install from the last installer I had that worked -- calibre-1.27.0.msi -- will I be able to get the program up and running again and retain my existing library? (I'm much less concerned with having the latest-and-greatest than I am with getting access to those e-books again.)

You just have a corrupted install. Uninstall and re-install and you will be fine. And note that uninstalling/re-installing does not affect your libraries/books in any way. You can access a calibre library with versions of calibre going back years.
