Touch Not Seeing Books On SD Card
Hi all
A couple of days ago I finished reading a book on my Kobo Touch. Last evening I picked up my Kobo to start a new book only to find out that, although my collections are there (which also shows the number of books in the relevant collections), my books aren't available. Inside the collection folder, it shows an block where the cover image would be with [Title] where the book title would be and [Title] where the author would be. I checked my SD Card and the books where still on there so I fired up Calibre and it found my Kobo and was able to read, write and delete titles. I did a factory reset, launched my kobo desktop to initiate and complete setup where it updated the firmware to 3.2.0. I put my SD Card back in but now my Kobo doesn't seem to see the SD Card at all, although my computer and Calibre do. Any ideas? My girl is an N905 and is as pristine as the the day she was bought some years ago. Regards Pb |

Sounds frustrating.
Obviously the card is inserted correctly if calibre can read it. You could try sending/resending a book and see if that works or delete the database Perhaps do a database check/save etc. with the kobo utilities plugin? Helen |

It actually sounds like your data base has been corrupted. The only way to fix this is to log out and then back in from your Kobo account on the device.

When are you inserting the SD card? There is a bug in the recent firmware that means the N905 Touch doesn't read the SD card if it is inserted when the device is restarted. If you insert the card while the device is running, it works perfectly. It is annoying, but I don't usually notice it as I rarely power my Kobo's off.
I know this affects the N905. I think it will also affect the N905B. I'm not sure about the N905C. |

Hi D
Thanks for the reply. If I insert the card while the Kobo is running I get a message that states, "We couldn't recognize your Micro SD card. Please format it to FAT32 and try again." It is formatted to FAT32 using my computer's in-built formatter, SD formatter and formatting the card while it's in the Kobo but no joy. Regards Pb |

Both my Touch and Glo will do that. But, the card is recognised and the books added to library. Have you checked the books aren't there and if the card is shown in the "Device information" page of the settings.
Having said that, there are some cards the Kobo devices won't recognise. Kobo have done a lot of work on this, and there seem to be less problem cards now. You might have a bad one. Do you have another card you can try? |

I always buy SanDisc Micro SD cards because most easy to find at Walmart for Kobo Touch and Mini and never had problems. When I was using Kobo Wifi and I tried many different brands that were cheapest with no problems. Digital cameras never had SD card problems. I always backup anything don't want to lose on different computers and hard drives.

I also got that message on my Kobo Aura, I'm using SanDisc Micro SD cards, it gives me that message all the time but the books appear OK. Can the PC see the books when the Kobo is plugged in? |

Yes, all the books are there. My PC sees the books, Calibre sees the SD card and the books (Calibre can also write and remove books to the card). It seems that only the Kobo can't see the card. I'm beginning to think there's a fault with the device.
