Speaking of Kindles and cases, my 1st gen PW doesn't seem to hold a charge very long. I have to charge it at least twice a week usually more often. Anyone else who has a PW find the same thing? I read on it at least an hour every day and I've had it since Nov 2012. I'm waiting impatiently for the next PW to be released!

I have the Poetic Slimline case for our 8.9" Kindle Fire HDX that my 7 yo mostly uses. It was fine for an inexpensive case, though I think I'd rather have a tougher case considering how much he uses it.

It should. The case just slides and snaps into the base you hardly knows it's there. What I love about it is it's super lightweight and wonderful to hold and you hardly know it's there. What I do not like about it is the front flap leaves a film in the middle of the tablet screen. so keep a microfiber cloth handy to clean it each day. It protects well and I'd buy it again if it wore out.

I'd do a factory reset and see if that fixes it if not it's defective. My PW just sits collecting dust. The problem with owning 4 kindles is remember to charge them every so often! Right now I use none of them just my Nexus 7 tablet for reading. It does everything I need it to.

I get two weeks of charge on my PW but I do keep WiFi off unless needed.

I do some browsing in the Kindle store pretty often and I download a lot from my library also (samples, regular Kindle books and Personal docs) using the Wi-Fi or 3G almost every day. I bet that drains the battery a lot. Sometimes I forget to turn the Kindle back to airplane mode too
We had the Nexus 7 and we gave it to my parents after we got the bigger Kindle Fire. I think I liked the Nexus better though the Kindle's nice for watching movies with the better speakers and larger screen.

I'd also do what Blossom suggested to me when I got my KPW, let it run out until it asks you to charge it, reset it, THEN charge it. I did this a couple of times in a row and my battery life went from 1 week to 2 weeks and I use it 2-5 hours per day.

Oh, ETA, I also never leave the Wi-Fi on if that helps.

I pretty much always keep my PW in airplane mode, but I turned on the WiFi a couple of days ago and then forgot to turn it off. Was shocked last night to see that I needed to charge it until I realized the WiFi had been on that whole time. Airplane mode makes a huge difference in how long a charge will last.

I didn't have any of them because they're not available other than US/Canada [read: not couponable]. At least now I have 1, and it's the only series I don't have of hers. I think I talked myself into waiting to read 'The Will' before I spend days diving back into her books, except I have a feeling that it too will only be available in US/CA.

Trying to finish the dates stuff up tonight (I'm up to 2012). Then need to go back through as there are around 20 or 30 titles I know I read in print and rebought in digital that I either missed or didn't write down for some reason.

I have to take at least part of tomorrow off to go get my mom a new cell phone and set it up. I finally broke down a few years ago and just added both of my parents to my plan as it makes it easier to keep track Unlike my dad (who uses email on his laptop but doesn't know how to take a picture with his phone to save his life and goes six months before he figures out he has a text) my mother refuses to use a computer but I got her smart phone last time around so she wants another. She likes her slot machine app, her garage sale app, and the PGA app I also set her up with Dropbox so her pictures automatically load to my PC. I'm getting her a Samsung Galaxy S III mini. I am hoping the transition will go smoothly, but leaving the afternoon open just in case.

For box sets, I got the Love, International set from Entangled (4 full length books + 1 novella). Haven't read any of them but IIRC it was a easy to split (just the usual issues with most Entangled books).

I'm pretty sure "The Will" is self-pubbed but it's not in Kobo yet. Her last self-pub "Broken Dove" still hasn't made it to Kobo either so it may be a good while before it's couponable.
