The little white lies Amazon tells...

Hi everyone,

Well, this is not a biggie, but it still bothered me enough that I wanted to post this here.

I just bought the Kindle version of a book called "The Daedalus Incident" for $9.99. At checkout, I had this offer:

"Now that you own the Kindle book, you can add the professional narration for $3.99 to switch between reading and listening without losing your place.
List Price: $29.95
Reduced Price: $3.99
You Save: $25.96 (87%)"

Errr... Except you can't get this offer if you did not buy the book, so the "you save" tag is completely bogus.

As I said, not a big one. STILL.

Just because you have to buy the book first doesn't mean you didn't save $25 on the audio book. Look at it this way, you can get both versions cheaper than just the audio version if you buy the eBook first.

Me either. $9.99+$3.99 is better than paying $25.96, or even just using an Audible credit that gets you just the audiobook. It's just like a BOGOHO deal they entice you with.

And you see that on the actual book page these days, so it's not like you wouldn't know to begin with.

Works for those of us who do like Audiobooks, and books, but don't want to pay the Audible subscription prices.

Scratching my head here as well. You're still saving $26 on the list price of the audiobook.

Compare it to a standard "Buy One Get One Free" offer: you have to buy one to get the other, and you're clearly saving 100% of the price of the second item.

I like the one that says a book is on sale for $.99. It lists the kindle regular price as $3.99. Below that is the Hardback price of $29.99. It then says you have saved $29.00. No I saves $3.00.
