I did not know that. I never kept up with what was happening and until I started reading/posting here it was never something that crossed my mind. I always thought publishers would make sure nothing was plagiarized. Guess I was wrong

There was a big to do over it online a few years back. Lots of her fans said Sarah and Candy from SBTB and Jane and co from Dear Author were just mean girls for pointing out all the plagiarized passages. I think one of her publishers dropped her, but not all.

Dear Author had a really good post about the various authors she'd plagiarized from. The many faces of plagiarism

It was the nature article she copied about the black footed ferret that actually started the whole revelation.

I haven't read Thief yet, but from what I remember of the middle book and from what I understand the last one to be, you do need to know what happened in the middle. THere's a lot of character development there...

Dark Tide Rising by Kristin Miller, New York Times Bestselling Author. Police Sergeant Mark Thurgood is all work and no play, but he's harboring secrets that tie him to the vengeful sea. Free-spirited Emily McAllister is haunted by premonitions, and the latest shows her death in a dark coastal cave. Can they put their desires aside to focus on the task at hand and find the killer before he finds her?

Big Bad Wolf by Gennita Low. On the run from shadowy enemies, a secret agent finds sunlight and love while working undercover for a female roofer.

Found Wanting by Joyce Lamb. She's been on the run for 14 years. He's been sent to bring her home, dead or alive. A boy's life depends on what happens next. Can they overcome betrayal, lies and violence to find what they've always wanted?

High Tide by Maureen Miller. A couple locked in a struggle to protect the coast...and their lives.

Yes, you're absolutely right in putting it that way.

Whew, I'm wiped, been working on my Mom's library for the past week. Just finished my first sweep of authors with multiple books. Probably got rid of a few hundred freebies. Next up is a more fine-tuned sort through of about 1000 individual freebies and then all 3 libraries [Main, mine and my Mom's] are culled and updated. I'll be so relieved when this is all done.

For those of you that have been looking for medievals, Anne Stuart's Lord of Danger is on sale today for $0.99. It's couponable at Kobo. Previously published by Zebra 1997.

Kindle | Kobo

Quote:
The plan was for beautiful Claire to marry the terrifyingly sinister Simon of Navarre, wizard in residence to Richard the Fair. Instead her plain sister Alys takes her place, proving herself more than a match for the man with the secrets, while sweet Claire falls in love with a handsome knight, while the truly evil Richard the Fair tries to make life miserable for all. Set in medieval times, this is a rich, gorgeous tale of love and deception and ultimate redemption

Does anyone know the author I am thinking about?
Contemporary or historical?

Doreen Owens Maleek (sp?) has a few contemporary books where the hero is an American Indian.

Prince of Swords - Anne Stuart
-Historical Romance (Georgian-London, 1775)
-Zebra/Kensington, 1996

Quote:
Take an aristocratic cat burglar, a down on her luck gentlewoman who reads Tarot cards for living, add in a wicked villain, beheadings, the Tower of London, and luscious sex, and you end up with PRINCE OF SWORDS, a classic romp of a Georgian romance.

Today's freebie at AAR is The Charmer, a Tudor-set historical romance by C.J. Archer (and it will still be free tomorrow).

Quote:
Handsome. Charming. Devastating.

He was the last man she needed, but the only one she wanted.

Orlando Holt has never assassinated a woman before. The lovely, feisty Lady Lynden will be his first. She's supposed to be a vicious murderess, but when Orlando begins to have doubts, he sets out to discover the identity of the person who hired him. What he learns will turn his world upside down, and propel him headlong into love with a woman who's immune to his charms.

Twice widowed by the age of twenty-four, Lady Susanna Lynden has had enough of charming men. Her last husband knew all the right things to say to get her to the marriage bed…then made her life miserable. Money may be scarce and her house falling down around her, but the exotic fruit from her orange trees will keep poverty away. Except someone is thwarting her at every turn. Someone who may even want her dead.

Free pre-order prequel novella to a new series from Amazon:

Before the Kiss US DE by Jayne Fresina (Sourcebooks Casablanca). It's due to be published on May 6.

Quote:
An original novella introducing Jayne Fresina's charming, delightfully naughty new Regency Romance series. In the sleepy village of Hawcombe Prior, the five young ladies of the Book Club Belles Society are looking for their own leading men. When handsome, mysterious Darius Wainwright strolls into town, the Book Club Belles are instantly smitten with his brooding good looks and prideful demeanor. It's as if he walked out of the pages of their favorite new novel, a scandalous romance called Pride and Prejudice. But Miss Justina Penny has a secret – she's met this arrogant, brooding bachelor before. In Bath. The town, not the tub. Although, she was naked...

Free from Amazon:

The Fragile Hour US DE by Rosalind Laker (originally published by Severn House in 1996). I have not read this one, but some of her other novels set in 19th century England, and they are very good.

Quote:
Two decades after the end of the Second World War, Anna Marlow stands among a crowd of spectators gathered around a lake in Norway.

She is watching an aircraft being raised up from the depths of a lake.

As she does so, she remembers its pilot - with a heart that is heavy for reasons far more complicated than a love that was lost during the Second World War.

As a British secret agent, Anna had returned to her Nazi-occupied homeland during the war to join the Norwegian resistance. Assuming a new identity, she lived among the Nazis whilst carrying out highly dangerous acts of sabotage, risking her life and the lives of her loved ones.

Despite the constant danger she faced, Anna found love – or love found Anna.

But as the war drags her away from those she loves, can this passion outlast Germany’s occupation of Norway?

Or will it be just one more casualty of the conflict?

‘The Fragile Hour’ is an gripping wartime romance about the courage and sacrifices made by the women of the secret service during the Second World War.
