FYI, there are four more books in that arc, plus a prequel YA-oriented series (Finishing School, third book coming soonish) that can be read separately. There’s also another series due later this year, picking up some time after the original five books.

This was book #23 for the year which puts me on pace for just over 100 this year. Next is ?? by ??. I feel a little burnt out after that one, so I may take a little break.

It does pick up, doesn't it. The second and third books are really one very long book. The second ends on a cliffhanger, as I recall. I had no trouble with the pace, however, and just devoured them both. |

I just started "The Time Traveler's Almanac" which was delivered to my Kindle today. I splurged on this because I'm a time travel fanatic and if I remember right, there's over 70 stories covering all aspects of time travel, from the classic to the fantasy. Hopefully it will be as good as I think it's going to be Bergette |

I finished D Is For Deadbeat by Sue Grafton. It was very good. I'm liking the series a lot! I am now going back to my re-read of The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. I'm on book 3, The Dragon Reborn. |

Just finished We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. The story is told through the eyes of an 18-year old girl, Mary Katherine "Merricat" Blackwood, who we realise is mentally disturbed, thus making her an unreliable narrator. She lives with her elder sister Constance, and her senile Uncle Julian, in their mansion in isolation and fear from the rest of the villagers. We know from the start that there's something strange going on. Basically, it's a quick read and a real page turner. The twist didn't come as a big shock to me because I saw it coming way before it got revealed, but nevertheless, it's an excellent gothic/psychological/thriller novel. Edited: That's interesting. Just read that Shirley Jackson was agoraphobic herself and that her agoraphobia was the main inspiration for this novel. Last edited by Gazella; 03-19-2014 at 06:10 AM. |

After all the recommendations for The Martian by Andy Weir, I am about to start it. Just finished Lastnight by Stephen Leather, a supernatural Jack Nightingale thriller, which was fun, even if it didn't develop the plot or character much since his last outing (though the end was interesting. Will look forward to seeing how Jack get out of this one...) |

Started listening to Proven Guilty yesterday. I found the beginning rather aggravating, but better an hour in. For Kindle reading, I'm reading the latest Asimov mag., April, I think.

According to the local forecast, tomorrow looks like a good day for talking a walk, but I have some Wodehouse loaded ahead of it on my iPod, though.
