Thank you both for the kind words, but after all, it was only because of issybird's clue.

Shayne, would you mind picking up the baton, as we are about to go away for a few days and it would be hard trying to run the quiz while we are doing that.

It was a fun quiz and I didn't know about curb and kerb. (I don't think ton and tonne would do as they are different weights. We used to have tons when we had pounds and ounces, and now we have tonnes and kilos and grams.)

5 points: V is the Roman numeral for 5. In what other way is it associated with the number 5?
4 points: Why does a clock face with roman numerals use IIII for 4 instead of the normal IV?
3 points: What was the most recent year with a palindromic date in roman numerals? MM (2000 CE) Kumabjorn
2 points: What will be the next year with a palindromic date in roman numerals?
1 point each: Give dates in roman numerals that are English words (with a relaxed interpretation of words).

A tonne to you is a metric ton to us, so the spelling variance holds.

On t'other hand, US tons and UK tons are different weights.

1499 is MCDXCIX not MID
499 is CDXCIX not ID

(In general, Romans didn't use a much smaller number before a bigger one in that way. I could go before V or X, but not before L, C, D or M.)

There is at least one common English word that is a proper Roman number.
