OT, but need some of the great tech-expertise from you, please and thank you. Just got a new phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 3. So far I love it, my book transfer was seamless to SD card and using Aldiko. Music, seems ok, the default player won't play albums according to tracklist, by alphabetical instead [which is a huge NO for me since I'm such a music buff, but anyways I'm working on that.]
My real conundrum, is there an easy way or free app to sync my Outlook calendar to it?
Please be patient, remember I'm tech-challenged, and thank you in advance for your help.

Confession Time

I will start this weeks confessions: I spent 42.00 on 5 books.

Yep, I paid full price for them. All were signed by the authors too. There is a story to this... I came home on Thursday and was told to check out some pics of my friends for Throwback Thursday on Facebook. I noticed that Jill Shalvis had posted that she was excited to be someplace warm and that she was not having to wear a coat. She was in Florida for a Reading Festival. I got excited.

I spent Thursday night looking up on this festival and debating on whether to go. Was still debating this morning, as I would have had to travel from one coast to the other. I went. I met Jill Shalvis, LuAnn McLane, Melody Carson, Julia Quinn and Eloisa James. They even had the new release that was due March 25th early.

It was a wonderful day.

Julia Quinn's The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After
Jill Shalvis' Rescue My Heart
LuAnn McLane's Pitch Perfect
and Elosia James' Three Weeks with Lady X (10 days before release) whoo!!!!

May have paid full price but it was sooooo worth it!

That is so cool, Auntykatkat!

Though I have some signed books, I have never actually attended an author signing. It's on my bucket list.

You met Jill Shalvis and Julia Quinn!!!! *Squeels* I would pay full price too if I had the opportunity. I loved them both. Congrats how fun that must have been!

If I could pick two authors I want to meet it'd be Jill Shalvis and Karen Hawkins. Out of the 200 authors I follow on Facebook those two are the ones that stand out most to me with Kristen Higgins and Lori Foster coming in second and third.

I glad to see everyone. I read the 1st in Death book and never went any further. It didn't grab me and I was disappointed because I had heard such good things about the series. Maybe I will try the second one and give it another try. Blossom are you reading or listening? Has anyone listened rather than read or both and which is better.

I'm reading. I found the narrator to be sub par when it comes to men's voices so it's no go for me. I'm picky on that. If a narrator can't do a decent guy voice then I wont listen to them.

The first one really isn't that good and the only way I got through it is I told myself I had to see why Jill Shalvis holds Roarke at one of the top heroes on her list. I am going to go back through and skim the Eve & Roarke scenes from Book one because I don't remember much of how they fell in love as I said it was boring and I think my brain didn't process some of it. The second one is so much better! I'd say if you are not hooked by book 4 then the series isn't for you.

I am of the other opinion. I agree that the first one was meh. I feel that Nora just didn't have it down yet. I started out reading but was told to try listening, and that hooked me.

I have listened to them all. Mostly got them through the library. I don't mind Susan's narration. I think she does rather well with trying to make all the different characters stand out. Not great but well. Peabody and Morris are my favorites. I have heard worse. I would say try listening. Use the library, so you don't have to spend money, and see.

I'm enjoying the discussion on J.D. Robb books. I've read them all and always considered them "women's" books.

Last summer, my husband and I drove across country. I didn't think about audio books until the last minute, so I grabbed "Naked in Death" as we were about to leave. We listened while driving and my husband became hooked. Since that vacation, he has been listening to the series!

I don't remember much at all about how they got together in the 1st book either. Just there was an investigation and he was a suspect. I think. In book two does it give a bit of background?

You know what I like about this thread is not only the deals (I really don't need anymore books!), but the conversation about books. You find new authors that way and also realize some books are not for you. Fun and helpful. I don't contribute much, because I am sort of old school with the romances and read other genres too, but I read this thread every day. And I love the book chat. And I am going to give book 2 of In Death a shot. Think I even have it.

Auntykatkat, how much fun! I do like Julia Quinn's books. And the one or two of Eloisa James I have read. I haven't read any of Jill Shalvis. For them all to be there at one time. Wow!

I have nothing to report this week

I did not buy any new books (did pick up some freebies, but I don't list those on the buy report). And due to lack of "me" time didn't read any new-to-me books either.

Hopefully this past week will be an aberration.

I didn't buy anything either. I think there just wasn't anything good out there this last week. I did get some reading in.

I read:

Ceremony In Death by J.D. Robb (2 stars) I thought it was just horrible as Eve acted so out of character it's like she lost all cop sense in this one. I was so frustrated with that.

Vengeance In Death by J.D. Robb (4 stars) I really liked this one. I think it was the best one yet. This is Roarke book and I really enjoy that but what got me was the mystery it was just really well done and I didn't get it solved till the last part of the book when it suddenly clicked for and sure enough I was right.

Consumed by Skyla Madi (2 stars) I shouldn't even give it that. The heroine is so Juvenile I was yelling "What are you twelve?!? Act your **** age already!" through 90% of the book. The hero needs to grow up too and how they are suddenly in love with each other when did that happened? It was done really poorly.

Dirty Harriet Rides Again by Miriam Auerbach (2 stars) After really enjoying the first one this one was just really badly done. I kept thinking the author wanted to offend about every Gay, Race and Religious group she's mentions in this book. I found it offensive against all three. I hate when an author does this kind of thing. The mystery was too predictable and it was a waste of money.

On a happy note The Kindle For Android app finally includes the same fonts as the Kindle Fire HD. Finally after waiting forever we get the one feature it badly needed.
