I know it should just work, but is there a reason other than that why those who must have such large libraries loaded don't just replace the internal SDHC, provided they have one, with a LARGE one. It seems like you guys go through this agony on nearly every firmware release... I'm not baiting anyone, just curious if there is another reason other than the process being a little hairy for the less technically minded. Though I suspect most of you don't qualify on that point. BTW, if the answer is, "'Cuz it should work!", I whole heartedly agree. |

As for my preference to keeping my books on the removable external card, it just makes it simpler when I do a factory reset and don't have to reload the books -- pull the external card, do the factory reset, jump through all the firmware update, patch, etc. hoops and then re-insert the external card. Though the slow scan times on 3.2.0 is making factory resets something that I will be avoiding as much as possible until the next release -- if the next release improves in that area. The other nasty to watch for is the sheer number of counterfeit cards. One local store located on east Broadway sold me 4 Sandisk 32GB Class 10 uSD cards which didn't work very well. Unfortunately, querying the cards revealed the information that they were not Sandisk -- at least the results from the Card ID register did not match with Sandisk's MFG ID. I just wish the bleeping utility did not need me to dig out an old IBM T61 laptop -- the utility does not work with USB connected devices and most of the newer laptops use USB to connect the card reader. Regards, David | |

After reading this whole thread I'm thinking I will avoid 3.2.0 and see if the next one is any better. o.O

I've got a white/blue Glo out for delivery, and I've got 3.1.1 ready to put on it as soon as it's done registering, etc.

DNSB, Thanks. I just wondered if there was any other reason that I hadn't spotted. If anything, the "external" SDHC has seemed to be less advantageous concerning slow scan times and issues with cover generation, etc., in any number of firmware versions. If I felt the need for more storage, I think I'd definitely consider upgrading the internal SDHC, at least until they iron out the bugs and then leave it alone for a version or so. T61... been a while. I still have an X41T rattling around here that's still going strong. I may have to drive a stake through the processor of that li'l sucker before it'll die, or at least dump a bunch of garlic powder into the fan intake. The built-in Wacom digitizer makes it fun to play with and pretty handy for photo touchups. |

About internat storage, you can expand it without changing the SD: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=230158 |

Actually this version is not that bad. The highlight improvement is a huge one! The dictionary works fine too. I don't need to sideload any books at the time, so I can't tell about that. The only flaw is the slightly slower overall management. |
