Theoretically, but do it wrong and you risk getting your Kindle blacklisted. It may not be that big a risk if you are careful, but with a miniature USB WiFi stick being as cheap as $10 and the value of your Kindle being much higher and the tether being far less convenient than the stick, the risk/reward ratio is poor. I can't get this figured out... do I have to jailbreak it first?

Not so as I understand it. The 50 MB monthly limit on Kindle Keyboard 3G browsing is only applied when away from one's home country so for me based in the UK I would have to go overseas to be affected.

But more an educational (or emergency) exercise, rather than a simple and practical web browsing experience. Just saying... Even on the PaperWhite.

Yes. Just a (long) series of allowed clickable links starting in social networking. No way to enter a URL in the social networking applets until you get to a google search page... It just goes to show that 3G tethering could be dangerous even on a K5 or PW, when social networking and web browsing both use web applets, and have different restrictions. It is up to us to play nice with amazon and not exploit this knowledge to the detriment of all. But useful in a pinch, if that is all you have... I cannot see how "just clicking links" in social networking can be construed as a violation of the TOS, but just remember to not abuse it. And I will not tell you which links to click to get there. Learn that yourself (like playing a learning game). And of course, configuring ANY tethering can be abusive, because the kindle does not care where it gets the network access it is sharing (either wifi or 3G). |

@Niluje: ok thank you for your help... after I restarted my kindle it freezes when I try to open web browser... factory reset fixed it until I copied my data back on to it... I'll put stuff back on bit by bit until I find the file that's doing this...
