A Paperwhite (no ads, taxes + shipping included) costs me 180-200 €. That is not an insignificant amount of money, being about 1/4 of my monthly income, so a 40 € hard cover, while expensive, is - for me - a much better option than having my cat walk across the screen and leading to the need of a replacement before I'm ready to get one.
That said, I'd really hope the next Paperwhite does keep the same form factor, because I would really prefer to keep my existing cover! Provided the next Paperwhite offers enough reason to upgrade, that is. Side buttons would be basically the only thing to make me want to, as in every other way, I'm happy with my 1st generation Paperwhite. |

I bought a Kobo Aura HD and discovered a new dimension of eReading which I hope Kindle implements for several reasons. Aura HD has a 6.8 inch high density screen. When fitted with a different User Interface, it makes several things possible which I had never thought about or even seen discussed before. The extra screen lets you configure your books to look like a trade paperback, with white-space used to make reading easier. With the ability to display user supplied fonts, a vast number of sizes of font, line spacing and margins, you can configure your books any way you want. I have a mild reading disability and I've found a combination of these configurations that make reading much easier. In fact, trying to read an old fashioned paper book tires my eyes in little more than an hour of reading. But the ability to make my books look pretty is also important. The paging buttons on my Kindle K3 are great. I can see them doing that, especially if you have the option to make the whole screen be touch sensitive for a right page and use a button to left page when needed. Amazon is sure to be preparing something though. I can't wait to see what they come up with. |

I don't mind lighter. Ideally, I'd like my ereader to float above my face, like the hoverboard in Back To The Future. |

I call BS on that leak. As I pointed out in my post, TechCrunch has a bad record for ereader rumors. Also, that rumored KPW shows far too many innovative design decisions for Amazon. Remember, the 2nd KPW looked basically the same as the first. That would tend to argue against Amazon radically reinventing the design. |

I'd like a bigger kindle too, but I don't think it will happen because amazon does not want their eink reader to compete with their fire tablet. |

Mr Bezos' public statements. He would be committing a serious crime in lying about such things, so it's safe to assume that he's telling the truth.

Page turn buttons, however implemented, would get me to pop for an updated Paperwhite. |

That said, to me the case has much more value than protection... the Kindle is easier to hold w/ the case, feels better in the hand, turns on automatically when opened without fumbling for a button, gives peace of mind, etc... a nice case makes the device much nicer to use IMO. |

I had the full cover for all my other Kindles, as well as my 1st generation iPad, but for my Paperwhite, I bought a sleeve and like it much better. It doesn't collect dirt between the back of the Kindle and the cover, like my other Oberons did, and whenever I want to read, I simply slip out the Kindle, set the cover aside, and read with a naked Kindle. The bad news is that when I searched their site just now, I couldn't find sleeves of any kind. I'd heard that they were planning to do away with them, but I'd hoped it was just a rumor, as that was my all time favorite Oberon cover. The only thing I don't particularly care for is that the magnets on the closure sometimes turn the device back on if I'm not careful to keep them away from my Paperwhite whenever putting it back in the sleeve.
