Touch wood, I've never had a dead ereader, my 505 is doing better than my new PW2; they just don't make 'em like they used to!

Is that a Sony 505? That was my first ereader but I found downloading the books really clunky and struggled to use it. Nice sleek chasis but not that user friendly for a non-tekky bod like me.
That said, I remember it fondly because I lost my ebook virginity to it.

I've always kept certain items, such as old typewriters, dating back to my uni days. I like the progression from manual to electric to electronic to laptop. I'm sentimental about stuff like that. For the same reason, I'd never get rid of an ereader. I'm not a hoarder, honest!

I like the charity idea, in fact. Why throw it away? There is always someone round the corner who can make good use of it. One man's junk is another man's gold.

Yes, I love my Sony 505 and have never had problems loading books onto it. I use an old version of Sony's ereader software (the one it originally came with), this causes some issues but makes it easy to load books to the reader; otherwise you can use Calibre, which is a bit more techie.

The only real issue with the 505 is the amount of time it takes to 'format' a book - when that circular thing spins. It's much slower than modern readers, but more elegant imho, and really low-tech compared, for example, with my kindle PW2.

No no no don't throw the eReaders away! As what the guys mentioned above, donating them to charity is much better. Or if they're still working, you could probably sell 'em!

I'm about to buy myself an eReader and I have to save up for it as I am a student and it's a bit pricey here in my country so I definitely think it is of value and should not be thrown away even if it's been with a person for years. Plus, you've been through a lot with your eReader together.

But if in the US you go to your Account in Amazon and to the right there's a link to "Your Trade-in Account". You sign into it, then it'll show your past trades if you have any.

To the right, again, is where you pick what you want to trade under "Trade-in Stores". Chose "Electronic" and you'll get another page where you can type in the model and see the offers.
Thanks. Only seems to be available for books and video games in the UK.
