How to take screenshots of e-books on Android?
Hi all, I've been looking for a way to highlight quotes on my Android tablet, but they need to be un-editable so that I can't accidentally edit them. I then want to upload these "un-editable quotes" to Evernote.

Someone told me I could take screenshots of highlights I've made in e-books on my Android tablet and then upload these images to Evernote. This would be perfect because it would mean I couldn't accidentally edit the quotes on my Android tablet, but I don't know which app will allow me to take a screenshot of a highlighted quote and then upload it to Evernote.

No additional app should be required. On my Nexus 7 holding down the Power button and the volume down button at the same time (for about 1 second) takes a screenshot.

Right, I can take screenshots now, but it takes a screenshot of my whole screen including my interface. That's why I was looking for a specific app.

On my device using Moon+ Reader Pro the reading app covers the entire screen (see attached). In this instance taking a standard screenshot gives you what you are looking for.

I have no experience with Evernote.

Until you find a suitable solution you could do a quick crop of the screenshot using graphic software. I still use what I believe is the last version of Paintshop Pro (v6.02) that was free, to do quick and dirty cropping and resizing.

Doesn't Evernote give you an option to add the screenshot in Evernote? (I know my version does, but that's a HTC Flyer only version...)

Until you find a suitable solution you could do a quick crop of the screenshot using graphic software. I still use what I believe is the last version of Paintshop Pro (v6.02) that was free, to do quick and dirty cropping and resizing.

Hey, thanks for your reply. That looks pretty good, but how big is each screenshot? If each screenshot is 500kb that'd be fine, but otherwise if each screenshot is 1mb it'd be too much...

I'm not sure? It doesn't have to be uploaded to Evernote to be honest... I can put the screenshots on a cloud service.

You would have to see for your self they vary depending on your device's resolution, the complexity of the background and the amount of printing on the page. Try a few then check their sizes.

I think EBookNovice is running 4.2 so the immersive fullscreen e-book page won't be available. You will still get some of the UI in your screenshot.

Alright thanks. If each screenshot is more than 500kb that'd use up a lot of space really quickly!

The screenshots will probably be in PNG format. With a simple picture viewer/editor, like Irfanview, you would be able to crop, resize, and save to JPG format.

Merely doing the format change can drop a 1.8 MB file to 300 KB. Adding cropping and resizing can get it under 100 KB.

Why do I need to convert it to .jpg? Can't it change the format automatically? What do I lose by converting the file to .jpg from .png?
