We had a pleasantly cool night at last - it got right down to 17C! Now it's back to mid to high thirties and sunny till a mild change on Saturday. At this stage I'm actually not quite sure when it last rained.

Right now I crave sleet, but I realise that that would last about five minutes in those actual conditions.

Everything coated with ice today .... have to wait until temps get above 20 F before spreading ice melt ... then on to hack out the cars ....

Advisories to stay off the roads until noon.

The sun is peaking through the clouds. I think the ice will melt fairly rapidly.

Sun is out - a balmy 21 F - just finished un-icing the cars & clearing the steps. Seems yesterday the sequence was: sleet, rain, freezing rain, and then LOTS of sleet. You can broom off the sleet until you get to the frozen rain layer.

Yesterday my sequence was like this: wait until today for the sun to melt the snow and ice from the sidewalk. I did clear the car off this morning, however, but that mostly consisted of starting the car, turning the heat all the way up, setting the air flow on defrost, and going in the house until the job was done.

I did that too with the car - but the sleet was so heavily solidified in the wiper wells the heater couldn't melt it - I had to crack it and then chip it out.

Guess what's coming Thursday?

Our average temps in NC in March are supposed to be in the 60's F.
It ain't getting out of the 40's F all week.

Here in central Michigan, USA, the sun is shining and it's actually, honest to goodness above freezing [by one whole degree]

Not quite spring fever weather yet, but it gives me hope. And as much as I'd like to see 60 degrees tomorrow, I realize if it warms too fast we're going to have real flooding problems. But maybe upper 30s will feel like a heatwave anyway

Rain, very cold rain, sleet, gusty winds [trees toppling everywhere], temps hovering around 32 F. Windshield covered by layer of sleet glued into one mass by the freezing rain. Staying home till noon at least - we have a low pressure system spinning on top of us - which is making my head pound!

It's finally COOL! A lovely max of 26 today, allowing one to move around outdoors without melting. Next week it will be back up to the mid-to-low 30s.

A rash of garden work has broken out at our place. There are wheelbarrows, brooms, pots, soil, mortar... all sorts of things going on.

We had freezing rain Thursday night and Friday morning. I've been without power since 8 AM yesterday.

Everything froze last night - cars still iced.
