I ended up with 62 books and magazines for $53.00. Nice haul that included some cookbooks for my sis so I can get my paper ones back. I bought 2 entire series, a couple of omnibus', and craft books. Also nearly finished off my William Campbell Gault collection of detective novels. My wish list has been cut considerably (I even dumped some that I decided not to read). So, yay! I just wish more of my CURRENT series could be couponed. I'll just have to put them on hold and read other stuff. Darn.

The calm returns after the storm. My book buying looks odd this year: January: 50 books February: 2 books March: 54 books, likely to rise to 92 as pre-ordered books come in. If there are no big sales for the rest of the year, I may still come in under $480 in total. Although I only have $32.15 of discretionary spend left - all the rest is allocated to books for the rest of the year. Last edited by pdurrant; 03-04-2014 at 06:09 AM. |

I fell for the 90% thing too -- and then since I was sinning anyway I bought a bunch of non-eligible books too. I did quite well, having reduced my TBR pile with over 30 books or so until last week. Now, it seems I have 15 books more than at the beginning of the year. Ah well, so it goes... |

Incidentally, that C&R sale that made January look so bad is still on, isn't it? Certainly the book I've been watching is still £0.84. And I still haven't bought it, even though I bought and read - and liked - the first in the series. I can't see that it ever really pays to fall for these things. They'll be around again. Or you might miss something, and is that really too bad?

Aaargh, I missed the 90% code! Oh well, I guess it saved me from going on a crazy shopping spree.

Having a longer TBR than I did at the start of the year also helps. Just so long as you have enough to keep you going until the next excellent offer....

Well, I bought books into February 31, so March is a clean slate and I intend to keep it that way. I don't anticipate buying an ebook for quite some time, what could possibly appeal? Time to repopulate the wishlist, take some aspirin and rehydrate. Back on the wagon. I'm off to check the Kindle Daily Deals, so I can rebuild my resistance muscles. Mixing some recovery metaphors there! |

I did a bad, thing. I went and bought more ebooks! And they weren't the cheap/couponable books. They were expensive books I can't use coupons on. I bought Jack Reacher #2, Kinsey Millhone #6, and of course the lastest Star Trek novel. Oh, and Nora Roberts' Dark Witch. Pricey, pricey books, but then I got extra money for my b-day, so I thought I'd splurge. Was tempted by the new Kim Harrison, but $15.99 is way too much for an ebook so I'm taking a stand and waiting a year for the price drop. That's something at least. Now, I need to stop buying. But oh, no...I have more Amazon gift cards coming in from Swagbucks....sheesh. Oh well. Last edited by PurpleStar; 03-04-2014 at 10:29 AM. |

And yes, naughty on buying non-discounted ebooks. Congratulations on holding off on the Kim Harrison. Add an entry at luzme.com to alert you to price drops on it. Sometimes publishers will do short-term special offers even on titles only in hardback.

Yeah, they do that, but mostly US only. I would have bought the Kim Harrison books again on ebook for the sale price awhile ago, but of course, they didn't want my money because I'm Canadian.

How much time do you need to earn one book? If you need to spend hours and hours on surveys and other things to earn $10, it might actually be a very expensive way to buy books, except if you have unlimited time.
