No snow in the forecast, at least for a few days. Cold though. It's a nice -30 F this morning.

The weather gurus are improving - in predicting horrible weather ...

Got up at 6 am - 59 F & dry

Temps dropped to 46 -> sleet -> rain -> 42 F -> sleet ....

Predicted to be in low 30's F by noon with sleet/freezing rain ...

Schools all dismissing at 11:00 - 12:00

[Needless to say I stayed at home]
[Call me chicken!]
[Call me warm snug calm chicken!]

Chesapeake schools closed for the entire day. I think it would have been better to send folks home early if need be, as it isn't doing anything yet. Now they'll have to make the day up, and possibly tomorrow. If it's going to be bad, surely it will be worse tomorrow morning than it is now.

Snow today and warm. -21C and -30C windchill. Feels like a normal January day now.

It's all going to freeze solid tonight ... and temps barely above freezing tomorrow.

As for sending folks home .... that creates the grid-lock traffic nightmares.

Woke up to a temp of 41° F. It's now 28° and falling. The walkway outside my house is encased in ice.

It started flurrying yesterday afternoon. I went out and cursed at it, as loudly and uncouthly as possible. Must have worked -- the storm suddenly turned south! We barely got an inch of new snow.

It's snowing now, and has been snowing rather heavily for some time. Now that we've had a thorough coating of ice on the streets and sidewalks, of course.

We've had 3 hours of sleet/freezing rain mix - still sleeting lightly - cars totally encased in icy shells, driveway not visible. Guess I'll be roosting at home tomorrow too.

Sleet has filled the bird bath!
