I assume that if Paypal says they are going to pay Kobo $0.66, and will take $0.66 out of my Paypal account (or use my credit card, which is the only other payment option), that they will pay, and claim $0.66.

If I do this 50 times, I expect 50 of these mails (which indeed did happen), and I either expect 50 claims of $0.66 or one claim of $33 on my credit card. That would be €23.87. OK, Paypal's exchange rate is higher, so let's say the charge is €25 or even €26.

If it's any different, I'd be angry, and mistrust will ensue. I would certainly file a huge complaint at both Kobo and Paypal.

On the other hand, if Kobo would state that using this coupon 50 times was never the intention, I could understand that they refund the money back to the Paypal account it came from, and then proceed to delete the books from the library. I would be annoyed, but I could understand this course of action.

Hmz, ok. I don't know how this works at Kobo.

I have my credit card as a payment option at FeedBooks.com only, but that's because they don't have any other means of paying. I don't like to use my credit card in a gazillion different stores. That is the reason why I have a Paypal account with the credit card in there, and I do everything through them.

As I said, if Paypal states $0.66 as the amount of money for this purchase, then I expect to pay $0.66, not $3 or $5 or $6.59.

I was smart this time. I bought a Kobo gift card first from the Australian website. Interestingly, Kobo did send me the email receipt for the card. AUS$20 came to US$17.86. I furiously grabbed 11 books for less than $10.

Shopped from Australia, India and South Africa although the prices were only pennies different I had to move due to availability. It wouldn't let me buy from US, UK or Mexico using the gift card.

Edit: Thanks for posting the code

We ended up buying 32 books, hubby got 22 and I got 10 for a grand total of just under £26. It would have been £23 but I forgot to add the code for 1 book

Anyway all downloaded safely.

So I'd like to add my thanks to the person who originally posted the code

Just to be safe, I made PDFs of both my Kobo account record and my credit card pending charges. And of course disinfected my purchases.

Many thanks to Lady Stardust for posting this code. I used it to get some bargains, and also for some very expensive books I had on my wishlist which became bargains.

I don't need to buy another book until the next 90% coupon comes around which probably won't be till later on this year, if ever. WOW, what a day full of book shopping. I hope others were as successful as I was.

Yah, wish I had the code yesterday when I used the 75% coupon. O well, I bought an additional 40 books on top of yesterdays 25 books for a total of 65 books for $65 dollars, and really knocked down my wishlist. And that code is still working.

I got all my Paypal receipts, but no Kobo receipts so far for the last 2 days.

Thanks for that amazing code and also thanks to whoever gave the India tip. All I had to do was find an address in India on the web and all the books that I couldn't use the coupon on suddenly had no problem.

I am a bit shocked that my Mastercard provider didn't balk at charges with an address in India, but perhaps since they were all <$1 it wasn't worrisome.

Sometimes credit card providers don't like multiple small purchases, as it could be a sign of unauthorized use.

Since Paypal isn't accepted in India, I use a virtual credit card when I shop there. And after I've finished shopping, I always delete my payment information.

I'm not stressed about it. The Mastercard is a backup that I almost never use. That actually makes it even more bizarre to me that they're willing to accept these charges from India, since the card is barely used. I use my Amex for almost everything and only dig out the M/C for places that don't take Amex.

That doesn't sound like a credit card, or at least sounds like something prepaid. By the very nature of a credit card you don't have money on it. I charge stuff and then pay for it when I get the bill. So I never have money on the card, and usually owe the card issuer money.

For this card I rarely use it, so the balance is typically zero. It gets the occasional large charges when I travel or buy stuff internationally, as my Amex charges foreign currency fees and the M/C doesn't. However my Amex is used for my business and often has large balances on it. I doubt they'd cancel that over small charges, as I've been charging $10-$40k/month on it since 2001. I've made them a pretty penny over the years.

If this card should get canceled then c'est la vie. I'll just get another one. While this card doesn't see heavy usage I've had it for almost 20 years, so again I doubt they'll cancel over 14 charges less than $1. I'm positive the Amex won't cancel over the 20+ charges less than $1 I made on the US site.

Addendum: Amex was however afraid of fraud, and I had an email to sign on to my account due to all the Kobo charges. Once I confirmed they were mine, all was well. The funniest thing was they didn't approve a bunch of the charges, but Kobo still let them go through and I had already downloaded all the books before I even saw the email. Now to see if Kobo figures it out and resubmits as they're supposed to.
