@seacity - you might also want to give the Modify PI a shot with options as shown in screen shot. It more or less does what Polish does with covers, and I see no reason why it should work when Polish doesn't, but... we'll never ever know unless we try.
If it doesn't work then - ??? BR Last edited by BetterRed; 02-22-2014 at 11:48 PM. |

I assume that ModifyPI is a Plug in? It's worth a shot. Thanks! |

But I'm betting that Polish, Modify ePub plugin and Send to device all use the exact same code to insert the cover. In the past (and possibly currently) there were situations where the three ways to insert a cover listed above did not suffice. In these cases converting to epub (even epub to epub) or editing the file was the only way to insert the cover. |

The prerequisite previously was if the book had the cover properly identified then Polish, Modify ePub plugin or Send to device would update the cover everytime with the one identified in the GUI. However, if the cover wasn't identified correctly in the book then a conversion was required to set the proper coding for the cover.

It sounds like the covers show up in Calibre Companion but not the B&N device library, so "something" is in the right place for a cover image. Can the original cover formatting cause problems that might be fixed by removal and recreation? My understanding is that metadata including the cover will be updated to match the Calibre database when using "Send to device", but the original file on disk is untouched unless you use one of convert, Modify ePub or Polish. Is that correct? Would simply deleting then re-adding a cover before a sync make a difference?
Probably worth asking whether the "defective" copies have been deleted from the device before a fresh sync with Calibre Companion. I seem to have to manually delete them to get the updated version onto my device (though a different device). Safe to assume these aren't DRM-encumbered since covers show up in CC? I personally don't see the appeal since I use CC to find and launch my books I don't care if the reading app shows a cover on their bookshelf. It's never safe to assume anything. CC doesn't rely on the book to get the covers. |

Unless I read the above wrong, did you mean doesn't?
You're making me feel better. I write whole paragraphs on here and constantly forget the contractions that I was clearly thinking at the time. I am so ready for some sort of direct brain interface. ![]() |

You are right. And like you, sometimes what my fingers produce has little relation to what my brain thought it was asking for.
