Here's the full text of the blurb:

"Amazon's third-quarter earnings call had plenty of positive things to say about their success with the Kindle e-book reader. Good thing the company's happy with it, because it'll be the one and only Kindle for the remainder of the year.

CFO Tom Szkutak confirmed during this afternoon's call that there will be no newer model of the Kindle reader until 2009.

Amazon's third-quarter earnings met previous guidance, but share prices were down in after-hours trading. Fourth-quarter guidance, which Szkutak notes depends heavily on the currently volatile market and the strength of the dollar, indicates net sales growth of between 6 and 23 percent year-over-year.

I noticed something,
I'm quite new here, only joined for a week.
Most 'news' for me, most guys on the forum already knew.
I think most people knew this one too, since I've mentioned something like this before as well!

The difference this time is the source. There definitely won't be a new Kindle this year if the CFO says so in an earnings conference call.

maybe they're really re-vamping the device?
It's a bit awkward that also the plastic logics reader, and Netronics' EB900 got moved to 2009...

For a while we'll have to wait on larger than 6" screens, or higher resolutions.

Maybe because lots more activity is going on in the e-ink market, and buyers are complaining & suggesting, and lots more newspapers and media are making resume's and reviews about the good and the bad..?

So far Sony has gotten the cheapest (e-ink) devices on the market; unbelievable!
Not so with hifi stuff...

...and wouldn't work until Service Pack 1 was released in 2013.
