I watch it every morning, and I'm just as excited to see it as I was the day before!

Good morning, everyone! It's the start of a new week, and I'm starting it off with a mug of my new English Breakfast tea from Viang Joom On. I'm so happy that I found this tea. I just wish it was a bit less expensive.

Yesterday, while riding the mountains east of town (and getting lost,) we discovered an area we'd never seen before, including a large lake. I want to go and do some trekking around the area. From the map it looks to be quite isolated, with the nearest towns or villages at least 15k-20k away, and only one dirt road leading in. I feel the need to get my boots dirty! And it will be nice to spend some 'alone time.'

A lovely Cabernet Sauvignon tonight, to go with a pair of rib steaks from the beef I just picked up. And potatoes roasted in duck fat. The Cab was a 1997 Staglin Family Vineyard. And no, I did NOT get a red wine headache this time.

Well, everyone seems to be snowed in and offline today, but here on the supposedly Wet Coast, we're having sun and 15C. In spite of the forecast rain and 5C. LOVE IT!

In my cup: Peet's English Breakfast Blend, though I started the day with Peet's Major Dickason's coffee. But now, time for a break and some popcorn and diet coke.

No snow here, but sure would like some rain and lots of it.

Getting ready to make a fresh cup of coffee, Gevalia house blend, after I finish my tuna, spinach, and apple salad.

no snow here - but several inches of water in my house. Fitting on a pipe gave out out while we were not home. yay. whoohoo. yippee. Estimated damages - $8,000. Fun Fun Fun!

That's tough, VydorScope! At least you should have coverage with your home owner's insurance, though it will inevitably mean higher premiums for the next year or three. Still, with a bill that high, worth it.

Diet coke tonight, I think.

Oof! Many years ago some friends of mine went on vacation for a week. When they got home they could not help but notice that there was water flowing out from under their front door. A pipe broke in the basement sometime while they were out -- and, of course, just kept running. I hope yours isn't too bad in terms of loss of personal objects. Money can't really replace them.

Thinking about a rare fifth tea while I wait for the next freakin' snow storm.

Ouch. So sorry to hear that.

I really hope that your home owners insurance doesn't go up too much.

*I never could understand why the insurance premium (that you've paid for years) goes up when you finally use the policy.*

try having your home ruined by a contractor and having your insurance carrier say "so sorry".

Yeah - in 17 years of homeownership I have never made a claim. If I had all that money right now, I could pay cash for this repair. heh. Ah well, at least we are getting a new kitchen floor out of it.

I am thinking I should ask for gold pressed latinum flooring, what do you think?

The way things have been going with policy claim payouts, I think just getting them to pay anything is a plus. During a major storm, I lost a big section of fence. The insurance said it was a valid claim, but wanted to up my deductible to $1000 and increase my premium. The cost of paying my current deductible and doing the fence ourselves ended up being cheaper to do than to file a claim with those future costs. I know there is a reason I still pay for homeowners, I just haven't figured out what it is yet.

The real reason? A really big claim, such as a fire. Everything else? It hardly pays to make the claim.

Starting out with some Major Dickason's myself, along with my fresh squeezed orange juice.
