Everytime I add a discount code it just says unable to apply promo code to me... Is there some kind of restriction to which books you can use them on?

Yes. Search for the books you want by title or author. Then look about halfway down on the sidebar on the left. There's a show only promo books or something like that. If you click it the books that aren't eligible go away.

Or you can just keep trying the codes.

I've found that using that filter is horribly inaccurate. Books that are eligible frequently disappear, and ones that aren't often remain. It's so bad that I've stopped using that feature altogether. YMMV

Another thing you can do to find books that are promo eligible is look for prices that don't end in .99, such as $4.79, $6.29, $7.89, $8.39, etc. Often, those prices indicate a book that is promo eligible. Although it isn't 100% accurate, I've found it far more useful than using the site filter.

That's funny. I haven't bought a lot yet, but so far the promo thing on the side is 100 percent! Although I did find two books that it said weren't eligible, I didn't try to verify that. Now I feel like I should go list my own books at x.89 instead of x.99...

Well, I guess we are all stuck with trial and error!
