Hoping they can pinpoint what is wrong, Loosheesh. And I am impressed you got rid of so many books. Very liberating!

Read:
  • Take me Home (Country Roads #1) by Inez Kelley (B-/3 stars)
I only read one new book, but I also reread Thankless in Death by JD Robb.

AnemicOak, I hope that something comes up soon. I can't imagine the process after 20 years, I empathize. Keeping good thoughts for you that there's something better ahead after these struggles.

Loosheesh, I'm so sorry to hear everything you've gone through. Sympathize with you on health scares when it's the not knowing that's the worst almost, but sounds like the symptoms are difficult enough. I pray you get answers and hope that a cure or something to ease the symptoms are a great possibility. Priorities become pretty clear when you go through something like that, I understand all too well. Please keep us posted and you have my thoughts and prayers.

Loosheesh, sending good thoughts and wishes your way. There's not much tangible that can be done when the docs can't figure out what's wrong, but it sounds like you are trying to maintain a positive attitude and focus on what is really important, rather than the "noise" that we all seem to accumulate in our lives over time. Hopefully, you will get a definitive answer soon, and then at least you will know what you are facing. Uncertainty is the worst.... Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Definitely mistorical, but I absolutely loved this book. It features a brilliant and not beautiful heroine and the best kind of beta hero (and a virgin to boot ). Also, I could be wrong, but I think this is early Victorian set, not Regency. I tend to give books set later in the 1800's much more latitude as the social mores were finally starting to change at that time.

It's been a time of wrestling, I'll be frank. Soul-searching, as I'm sure you all know, is not easy, but it has been worthwhile for me in re-prioritizing and returning balance to my life, especially when it comes to my faith (most importantly, the practice of my faith). This illness (*whatever it is) has seriously upended my life, to the point where I'm practically home-bound right now and cannot go anywhere on my own. For an independent-minded person like myself it is a major blow. But God has taught me a lot through it and I'm very grateful.

*So what is wrong with me? My health started deteriorating more 5 years ago and, thousands of dollars worth of tests later, I'm only a little closer to knowing the answer to that question. It's neurological, debilitative and progressive. Very enlightening stuff, right there My current doctor has her one major speculation; I'm scheduled to see a new specialist (and to do another mint-worth of tests) to find out if she's right.

My work has suffered a bit but I'm able to do some of it from home. My boss and coworkers are very supportive and co-operative. One of the things I wanted us to work on as a team this year was 'initiative' and we've been thrust in the deep-end with my situation. Everyone seems to be up to the challenge, though.

Regarding books and reading, I'm definitely buying less (only bought 4 so far for 2014), and I have yet to complete one book this month. My Calibre library, however, is finally getting the clean-up I always wanted to give it. And what a clean-up it has been! I went from over 7000 books to just a little over 2000. I was pretty ruthless I created a separate library for the Amazon books I wanted to delete from my account and have only 1600 left to get rid of.

I deleted my Booklikes account. I couldn't work up the energy to update anything, plus the things turning up in my update stream seemed so trivial in light of what I may be facing. When you collapse at work and have to now hold on to someone to get from point A to B, you might find yourself not caring about which author is having a beef with reviewers. No offense to anyone, but that is the dead-least of my concerns right now. Same with Twitter; there was just too much noise there. I cleaned up my following list and removed all my followers (afterward I felt that was probably kinda rude but I wanted to go in a different direction with what I was posting (if anything) and I didn't want to bombard people with stuff they didn't sign up for ).

[I'd already gotten rid of my Goodreads account after that September 2013 debacle so it has nothing to do with now. I created a new account (because I find it easier to navigate for book info when I'm signed in) but it's set to private].

So, there it is. Sorry for the length! Praying that AnemicOak gets a great job soon and that KyBunnies is OK. And I hope everyone else is doing well. And thanks for thinking about me!
Loosh girl you know you are in my prayers! *big hugs to you* I pray they will find out what's wrong and be able to treat it. Please keep me updated.

I remember when I got sick in 2009 and all the tests I went through before I was told I was anemic. I still to this day wonder if that is the root cause but doctors can only find what they are looking for which was enlightening to me. I know how it is to be home bound. That's me too. Right now I am dealing with something new myself so I totally understand.

Praying hard you get well and you can PM me anytime! *hugs*

Prayers for you Loosheesh, for both your mental and physical health, though it sounds as if you've taken a good look around and are making the changes you feel you need for the mental health part. I have always felt strongly that the saying God only gives us as much as we can handle is so very true - though so many times we don't actually believe it as we're living through something that feels too much. It's usually on the other side that we realize how true it is... but to me it sounds as if you are already there, ready to accept the unknown and trust that you will be able to handle it. I admire that very much and I hope you can hold on to that acceptance as you continue to go through the tests. Know that all of us here are sending you prayers, good thoughts, good karma, or whatever else we call it from our own set of beliefs. I hope you stop by a time or two just to let us know how you're doing

Thinking of you, Loosheesh and AnemicOak!

Loosheesh, I hope the doctors are able to figure out what's going on and find a way to heal you.

Anemic Oak, good luck on the job hunt!

I bought only three books and two Audibles this week. I think we all did good this week! Good Job!

I read:

Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen (3.5): I really wanted to give it a solid 4 but couldn't. Such a fun fast paced story and had serious potential to be 5 star but it need alot of polish with terms and some of the dialogue. This would be a Mistorical Category 2 in my book because while some of the writing and dialogue seems modern and out of time period, the characters themselves somehow fit. Of course this is all fiction so the writer had a wide berth on what Spies are like. There is very little historical value in this book. This book is based on Mr. & Mrs Smith and yes the characters appearances are even similar. So if you go into this book and read it like you would a TV drama you will enjoy it. If you go into as you would a regency novel you will be disappointed.

I am reading:

Last Chance Beauty Queen by Hope Ramsay: Hope is becoming a autobuy for me. I just love the way she writes characters. She focuses on the character and the plots instead of physical part of romance. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of sexual tension in the books it's just not the main focus.

An Affair to remember by Karen Hawkins: Such a charming tale so far and I am enjoying it.

Most of our snow is melted! Yay! It's suppose to be in the 50s all week! We got new neighbors too. I am shocked they rented the place out so soon. They didn't even professionally clean the carpet before renting the place out and remember this place had eight dogs at one time and she was always yelling about them going on the carpet. Only time will tell how these new ones behave.

Read - a good week. I kinda didn't like how There's Only Been You treated the H. I thought the h should have taken more responsibility for
Spoiler:
their years apart and him not knowing about the child. Yes, she thought she had good reason, but she still should have tried harder to find him and let the courts decide if the child wouldn't be safe with his father instead of making that decision herself AND telling the child his father was dead.
I also thought the h was a bit bratty at times, though she did admit to it in her own thoughts, so that saves it some. What saved this at a 3 for me was how awesome the H turned out to be and how hard he tried to step up as soon as he found things out.

Remember Me (Rosewood #1) by Laura Moore - $0.99
Kindle | Kobo | Google

Quote:
CAN A LOVE BE LOST THAT WAS MEANT TO BE?

A rising star in the modeling world, Margot Radcliffe hasn’t forgotten the hurt that sent her running from Rosewood, the beautiful Virginia horse farm where she was raised. Travis Maher, a ruggedly handsome rebel and gifted horse trainer with a hard-knock past, had once captured Margot’s heart—only to break it.

But when tragedy strikes her family, Margot is forced to set aside her skyrocketing career and return to a place she never expected to see again, where the legs that everyone admires belong to Thoroughbreds, not supermodels. Now Rosewood Farm’s success depends on Margot, and the only person she can count on for help is the very man who so ruthlessly rejected her love all those years ago.

As Margot and Travis enter an uneasy truce to save Rosewood from financial ruin, their wild natures clash and their unresolved passions for each other begin to surge. But can this hard-edged horseman find a way to express his desire for the one woman he’s ever loved before she’s lost to him forever?

Loosheesh, if you come back to the forum and you would like to, PM me. I, too, have a somewhat obscure degenerative autoimmune neuromuscular disease and I have taken the alternative medicine route which has been very helpful. I'd be happy to pass along what I've learned, or to just talk if that's what you need. My heartfelt thoughts are with you, it's a tough road when one's health fails and it takes a lot of internal strength to get through. It also helps to have support from others, and if I can help in any way I am here.

Today's Kindle romance deal is the Perfect, Indiana series by Barbara Longley. Each book is $1.99. I've read the first two and really liked both of them - very angsty, small-town romances featuring veterans as lead characters. I've been very good at waiting, hoping that the third would go on sale.

Far From Perfect
