Sorry I'm rather busy with school right now, so I'm really grateful KenMacD has been looking after this
![]() The github page should now be fixed and pointing to latest version. Thankfully it wasn't a Aura6 user who got bitten by my carelessness. |

Hi guys,
I've installed the FW 3.1.1 on my kobo glo with night mode build 9. All is ok except this : the page is totally refresh every 6 pages ! I don't understand why, because the parameters in my nightmode.ini are like this : # config file for kobo-nightmode [state] invertActive = yes retainStateOverRestart = yes [control] longPressDurationMS = 400 [nightmode] refreshScreenPages = 90 The refreshScreenPages = 90 seems to be correct, because if I look at the refresh option, I've got "OH THE HUMANITY!". Any idea Yoq ![]() |

A value of 90 is out of bounds for "refreshScreenPages" for the Kobo Glo. The only legal values are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Zero is unacceptable, and anything greater than six is unacceptable, too.
(The Aura allows refresh of once per chapter; all other modern Kobos are contrained to the range I've indicated above.) This has nothing to do with the Night Mode patch; it's inherent to the firmware on the devices. Last edited by RobertJSawyer; 02-04-2014 at 11:34 AM. |

Oh sorry I had not verify my parameters
![]() In my ".kobo\kobo\Kobo eReader" I had : numPartialUpdatePageTurns=90 And my my ".kobo\nightmode.ini" I had : refreshScreenPages =4 I think it's the default parameter after update night mode v9... now it's ok after change it to 90 ! For RobertJSawyer the answer brought here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...185660&page=51 is : "I've The answer is "Setting numPartialUpdatePageTurns=11 still works on my Glo with fw 3.1.1, so it is not a limitation of the firmware. (I don't have night mode installed.)" Last edited by akorx; 02-04-2014 at 02:56 PM. |

OK, so I have a brand new Glo (like 48 hours old) ... figured I try this out before transferring my library over .... I have firmware 3.1.1 I'm one of the "dummies" mentioned here in a post by KJB: ~~~~~~~~~~ BTW: The instructions on installing night mode could be a little more clear... for dummies (like me) reading the first post, it is not directly clear that the tgz-file itself should be copied to the .kobo-map, and not its content. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So ... I'm ready to dive in, with reservations .... (like, is the boot loop just an Aura issue or also a Glo issue?) And, will I need to do this procedure in a post by eXistenZ: ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's a known bug, it has nothing to do with the night mode, I solved with an hard reset, then manually updated to 2.6.1 and finally to 3.1.1, the trick is to pass through 2.6.1 ~~~~~~~~ So, I think I need to do this: I down load the file from: The installer is at: https://mega.co.nz/#!NxoXjJoT!DJLCcS...mQlOnmr7suOBpg and the uninstaller is at: https://mega.co.nz/#!RgYxWDwD!WDg72h...gdwtcDnhHBZ8mw AND THEN .... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation / Removal Download the attached zip file Connect your Kobo to your computer Extract the file KoboRoot.tgz from the installer / uninstaller folder Copy it to the .kobo folder on your device **** I should put the tgz-file itself in the .kobo-map folder on my device Safely remove the USB storage and unplug Your device will reboot automatically Should I power completely off and back on again? Control nightmode There are two ways to control this mod: Long-press the LIGHT/HOME button to toggle on/off Use a launcher to start the nightmode.sh script: KoboLauncher: Add: Night Mode = /mnt/onboard/.kobo/nightmode.sh to .kobo/KoboLauncher/kobo_launcher.ini or KoboTweaks: (not working on 2.6+) Add: Night Mode=tweaks.executeSystemCmd(\"/mnt/onboard/.kobo/nightmode.sh\") to .kobo/kobotewaks.ini Configuration In your .kobo folder, there will be a configuration file called nightmode.ini. You can change whether the state should be retained over a restart of the device, the default state after power up and the duration for a long press. The new setting will take effect after a restart. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After restarting, I would then long press the light button at the top of my Glo to activate Nightmode. Am I missing anything? Am I ready to try this out? ![]() Thanks to all of you for all your help and hard work! |

The installer/uninstaller you linked to is for the Kobo Aura, I don't know if it will work on the Glo. I should have been more clear in the first post. The download for the Glo is at the bottom of the first post. Once you've downloaded the zip from the first post, extract it and copy the KoboRoot.tgz file from the installer folder to the .kobo folder on your Glo. You don't need to power off and on again, your Glo will do that automatically once you unplug. As soon as your Glo has finished rebooting, night mode is ready to be started by long-pressing the light button. Hopefully that clarifies most everything. ![]() |

Just want to add something. When updating my Glo to 2.8.1, if the light is on and set to 1%, when the Kobo enters (manually) the sleep mode, when woken up, light does not come back. Starting 2%, it's fine. Which is for sure annoying when reading in a pitch black room...
![]() Seems that the 2.8.1 is the update that generates the bug. If goes direct from 2.6.1 to 2.10, no problem. I did a factory reset then updated manually to 2.6.1 and never sync again. Installed the hack, and it worked like a charm. Just wanted to try and updated to 3.1.1. Happy, the 1% light bug is not here and the night mode hack still works (after reinstallation). For those who faced this bug. You just need to follow these steps (I found them in the forum, somewhere and am not able to find it again). If this can help... ![]() |

So, I won't need to do the other configurations steps ... just drop it in the correct folder on my Glo and let it go to work? (for some reason, my Glo does not disconnect from the computer correctly ... I have to go into the Windows Explorer and force eject it with a warning saying I could lose data ... will that be ok for this?) |

Updated Glo to software 3.2.0 last night (required for a sync) and figured I'd just reinstall the tweak as usual but now it's acting strange. The screen will only invert if you've held the light button for a few seconds then force the screen to refresh (tapping in the middle, or toggling a popup). Same with switching back to non-inverted.
I was previously using build 8 and found it's now up to 11 so I tried that - same results. Anyone find the same thing happening or a fix? |
