Paperwhite faint print.
I love my Paperwhite, especially the high quality of the display. However, I've just downloaded this book from Amazon, and the words are much fainter than in other books I've bought. The strange thing is it's only this one book.
Any idea why this might be? Should I complain to Amazon? Try downloading the book again? P.S. I've just tried removing it from the Paperwhite and sending it again, but that didn't help. By the way, when I turn a page, the print is dark like it should be for a fraction of a second but then it fades again. Last edited by Ekdog; 02-14-2014 at 03:30 PM. Reason: Added PS. |

ETA: Actually, on a Paperwhite I think the option for using a Publisher Font is in the font menu. To Turn off the publisher font just select another font like Caecilia. Last edited by jswinden; 02-14-2014 at 03:51 PM. |

Thanks, Jack. I had a look and the Publisher Font option isn't selected.

The Caecilia font is the one that's selected.

Perhaps it's a Topaz book?

What is the name and author of the book?
Out of print books do get released in topaz formats, there is a whole catalog that is being put out that way, they were Dorchester books. |

Try importing the book into Calibre and see what format it says the book is in.

It's definitely a weird one; downloaded the sample and the text is a medium grey color on the PW2. As the OP said, it flashes to black on the page turns, then goes back to grey--about the same shade as the darker grey of the date bars on the posts here on MobileRead. No problems changing fonts, but even the publisher font is grey. I've never seen anything quite like it, but it doesn't behave like any Topaz book I've seen.
Could it be an error in the HTML? Regardless, it probably should be reported to Amazon. I'd personally find it nearly unreadable due to the severe lack of contrast. |

I imported it to Calibre, but I get a message that says it's locked by DRM.
