actually i moved to this appartment during the summer school holidays, so i didn't know about the shums (note to self : always visit a potential future appartment on a school day, just to be sure).

currently muttering curses at r**p, the bastiche who is bidding against me on ebay for "Me and Frumpet : an adventure in size and science" by Evans G. Valens. if i'm right about the title this was one of my favorite books when i was a child but my parents claim they can't find my old copy. it is out of print and rare and i've seen it on abebooks for 40$. i've been looking for it for literally years. and this stupid auction ends at 4:31 in the morning my time, and i'm supposed to be in bed long before then (must be well rested for tomorrow night !). should i take this as a sign that i should definitively stop buying paper books ?

I'm curious as to what was the second stringed instrument?Couldn't get a good look at it. Never heard someone play a 12 stringer like that singer did. Pretty good! So was that dancer!

I know what this is like and I can't just sit here and let this happen. But I'm at a loss to know how to help, ZP. The bidding ends at 10:30 pm Eastern time in the U.S. I'd be happy to bid for you but am a neophyte at such things and might botch things. Do you or someone else have a suggestion? Heck, I'd be happy to contribute to a pool to just buy it for you somehow. Afterall, we're talking about a childhood treasure here.

aw ! that's incredibly sweet. well, do nothing for the moment, but perhaps you could keep an eye on it for me after i go to bed... maybe if it doesn't go too high you can bid for me. let me think about how best to do this.
