She's not horrible. But it's just sad that hordes of people go for whatever she says like lemmings. |

Am I the only one odd to find that she's both promoting the Kindle and telling people how to cut food costs on the same show? ![]() Of course, maybe that's her recommendation for saving up for a Kindle |

Personally, I've saved enough compared to my previous, admittedly wasteful, book spending habits to pay for the Kindle. These changes in habits can be made with a variety of ebook readers, not just Kindle, but the Whispernet delivery sure helps. I used to waste a lot of money on books that I didn't like enough to finish or didn't end up reading at all. Now that I get free samples and don't buy books ahead of time thinking I'll want them later, I read every book I buy. Plus, my bookshelves are bursting at the seams. An ebook reader is about the cost of a bookshelf and holds a lot more. In addition to that we have free classics and even some Mobipocket library books (Thank you igorsk!). Now if you really need to save money, the library, your friends and the used book store are still the way to go, but If you're like me and used to buying a lot of books new and often hardback, an ebook reader may not be purely luxury. Oprah has gotten an amazing number of people reading and thinking about books. I think that's beautiful. I don't really pay attention to what she's recommending, although I've read many of the books she's recommended (both before and after) and she definitely expands people's horizons. I just can't see any bad there - more people reading is just GOOD.
