Possible (slight) improvements
Calibre is getting so perfect that I hardly dare to suggest such tiny improvements, from my longtime user experience.
- I think that the "Remove from device" command should be grouped with "Send to device"; all other "remove" commands are about the Calibre library on the HD. This would be (yet) safer. This is easy. - I often load epubs in my Calibre library, then consider they are poorly built, an rebuild them, generally extracting the HTML with style-sheets, then converting them to ODT or DOCX. Everything in the same folder, but unbeknownst to Calibre. I wish there were a possibility for taking into account these new files that were not built by Calibre without dropping my ODT into Calibre again and creating a new folder. Maybe more difficult. I love the new editor. Only the two message windows are not yet perfectly handy. Maybe new buttons, e.g. for automated fixes would help? Thank you again for the fantastic work. |

@TheDucks:
Sorry for posting in the wrong place. @BetterRed: I tried, but it did not work. What I meant is I have the (probably bad) habit of creating an ODT file from an epub inside the Calibre Library folder with only the epub registered by Calibre, and I would like to be able to register the new ODT in the same folder instead of creating a new entry. Thanks. |

![]() Like theducks says, save the ODT outside the library and drag & drop or 'add to record' the resulting file. |

I've been doing the following for a couple of years, I do it several times every day, on most days of the week. Prior to support for .DOCX in calibre core, I used the DOCX Input PI, prior to that I used .DOC.
Where 'whatever' is a calibre book list entry
I can't see any reason why this process would work for me with RTF and DOCX files in Microsoft Word (Windows and NTFS), and not for someone else using say TXT and ODT files in OOo Writer. If it doesn't then its a defect or a deficiency in Writer, the OS or file system being used - which would surprise me. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 02-14-2014 at 10:36 AM. |
