Thumbs up WOOT!!! Oh Happy Day!

Thanks to Curtis Brown Digital & Amazon, I just downloaded 2 books from an author who is deceased that I never expected would make it into ebooks!!!!

They are the first two books she ever published back in early 80's, I have several of them in paperback a few I had to rebuy used because I lent them out to my best friend with strict instructions NOT to pass them on and she did!

Now to find them as ebooks just makes my day!!!

Her name was Roberta Latow and her first two books are Three Rivers & Tidal Wave. And the icing on the cake is I got both of them for .99 each!

I'm just eagerly awaiting the Sharon/Tom Curtis books in April.

Now if only Segeanne Golon's Angelique books would be released in ebook, I'd be doing the happy dance. Maybe there is hope yet.

How is the snow Blossom? We have about 2" here and falling faster. I have one traveling home right now, who will hopefully make it, and another coming back from SD who will (I hope) stay a day in Nashville to avoid driving in any of this. The latter has our AWD car and mine is front-wheel (the one on the road right now, of course, is in a "sports" car, so I hope he gets here soon).

Keep in mind - unless she read the other, it isn't plagiarizing (otherwise, those TV writers would be in big trouble, as they all write practically the same show, ripped from current headlines).

And one scene does not a book make, either. It's entirely possible that she read the other or something similar and then the scene "popped into her head" when writing. It's difficult to go back and check dozens (or hundreds) of books to see if a scene you are writing was in one of them.

Now, if it were one she had read recently or consciously copied, that would be a different matter. I'm sure with no one talking, we'll never know the real story (unless it goes to court).

Your post made me smile, love to read about how excited other people get about books.

All you who are getting snow, stay safe and warm.

I'm hoping we get some good sales for Valentines Day, a/o a great Kobo code!

I'd be more than happy to send it your way!

Mine on the road tonight made it in, although he had to park and walk the last 1/2 mile.

Hope all your love ones make it in safe. I got one at work but we have 4 wheel drive so should be okay. They haven't closed the factory down yet.
We got about the same amount so far and it coming down hard now.

I wish that were the case but it's the same story, the same characters just the name changes and perspective to First person instead of third.

According to Ms. Roberts

"The email from a fan pointed out these similarities: “her heroine does crime scene clean up and she hires an ex cop to work with her. She has a dead brother. She talks to ghosts and tells them in order to help them ‘move on’ she needs to know what unfinished business they have. She cleans a meth house, a hoarder house and drives a van. She gets all 4 of her tires flattened. She gets grossed out when a ghost runs through her body. She describes a lot of how hard it is to clean a shotgun suicide in a small bathroom”

And the first scene starts out like heroine cleaning up a crime scene and listen to a ghost whine at her before she realizes she is going to late to her sister's birthday party. Both Books start out with the same scene only minor changes. No it isn't word for word but it's still a complete rip off.

If both books have the same scenes in them from above it's clear Ms Lynn did read that book. There's no way two people can think that much alike. Specially the shotgun suicide, meth, hoarder and van part that right there tells me she ripped off Wendy Roberts.

It does sound suspicious. However, having the other book yanked is a bad sign (you don't remove the book that has been plagiarized, usually).

We are up to 6" of snow here, officially (more than up in the mountains). The one I had driving in it tonight made it home (he had to walk the last bit). The other is safe in MO tonight and may have to stay out another day to keep from driving into it.

We have about 5" here. Hubby just walked into the door and said how fun it was driving in it.

I imagine DA will have more on this issue today and see if anyone responded to their inquiries.

After such high praise I had to go to Amazon and look. Well, more than look. I did buy Three Rivers and it is now on the TBR mountain.

I hope so too! I have recently been reminded of Angelique books and when I looked them up on internet it even turned out that original has more books than translated one. (I'm not sure I'd have wanted to know this when I was reading them it would have driven me nuts)

The Lady Always Wins

Railway financier Simon Davenant has waited seven years for a second chance with his childhood sweetheart and best friend. He’s not about to let his impending financial ruin destroy the opportunity.

This time, he’ll do anything he can to secure her hand in marriage—even if it means losing her heart for good.

The Lady Always Wins is a short story of 18,500 words (about 60 print pages). This story was previously published in the anthology “Three Weddings and a Murder.”

They made him go out in this to work. Canceled 1st shift but second shift had to report. We got about 6 inches and it's still snowing. It's cold and just yucky out!

I'm going to curl up with True Spies or Last Chance Beauty Queen on my Nexus 7 and stay warm. It's days like this I wish I could drink Hot Chocolate or Coffee. We are having Loaded Potato soup, Salad and French Bread later for dinner though.
