The settings folder...you have to open Calibre --> Preferences --> Micellaneous, then click on the "open Calibre configuration directory" button. After you open it, close Calibre, then you can copy that entire directory to your backup. I copied that, then all my libraries, to a 300gb hardrive, which I plugged into my Netbook, but I had to install Calibre Portable and run that, then point it to all the libraries. So I effectively have a working backup. Although I don't know that I'll sync it to my desktop ever again, or not.

When I do that, it takes me to Users>AppData>Roaming>Calibre, so I guess I was saving the right folder after all.

Yes, though it seems like an odd name for the path, doesn't it? I was confused. But, it worked, so that's what matters.

I just saw Laura London books will be released in April! Including The Windflower. I believe this was mentioned before that The Windflower will be available but it looks like they did some traditional regencies as well that will be released in April too!

Agreed! I keep thinking 'roaming', what does that have to do with it? But as long as it saves all the work I've done in my library, that's what matters. Hope I never have to find out though!

That is what I am thinking, I backed that folder up, but I am not really sure what I would have to do with it if i need it. Lets say my hard drive crashes again, it happened to me twice now. So I would install calibre on the fixed up computer and then point it to the library folder I pulled from my backup. What about that settings folder. Do I have to find that roaming thing folder somewhere, delete it and replace it with the one I did the back up on? I tried to find it before and never could. Only way I can get to it is from calibre itself.

I hope I never have to find out. Same with Alf I have no clue how I did it the first time, no clue how to even update the tools. So I am just petting my computer each morning so it stays alive.

Just copy the contents of the old settings folder into the new one and overwrite all.

Dumb question: What is the difference between installing Calibre Portable on a netbook and just installing Calibre on it? Unless Potable runs off the flash drive and doesn't actually install?

(Also, now that I have backed up the AppData\Roaming\Calibre folder on my main laptop, do I simply copy it to the similar folder on the netbook to use the newer settings?

Awesome! I might have to re-read The Windflower.

Well, I don't appreciate that it costs double all their other books.

For me Cat made the story the hero was too much in the background and just plain mean. I wanted the heroine and Cat to run off together! It's sad that Cat's story was never told.

Your level of expertise sounds the exact same as mine. No offense, but it's making me LOL just because I do the same thing, pray I never have to find out how to start over again!

I love to read their other books too and see how different they are from The Windflower. $2.99 is not bad price for a category regency. I'll probably pick all of them up.

I have to make an updated comment on Shana Galen. Her older books seem to be better written and have stronger writing to the time period So now I don't feel so bad for buying those books. It just seems the Sourcebooks spies ones are written by a different person. Does that mean she got lazy in her writing or is the editor to blame here? I mean it's like two different writers here. I'm totally perplexed!
