In better news, I have been gone so long because our daughter was born on 1/22! Has been an absolute thrill so far.

Enjoy what you can but don't be surprised or feel guilty when you don't enjoy everything. Best advice that I read because everyone tells you to enjoy it all but that simply is not possible.

Well, I certainly do not enjoy the poops that somehow defy gravity and end up on her chest, or the 3AM wake up calls to a screaming baby. Everything else is A-OK!

Great advice and I totally agree. It's like a roller coaster; there are highs and there are lows, but over the long run, the whole ride is one you were glad you took.

Congratulations. And let me echo the other comments on enjoying what you can. As you point out, there will be aspects that are less enjoyable, but they're part of the whole process. And you'll remember the good parts and forget the sleepless nights. Mostly.

I think it's very typical... Now that my son is 39, he's a LOT of fun. And I LOVE hearing him talk about what he's going through with his new baby. It sort of feels like 'payback!'

Good morning, everyone! Another new baby for MobileRead. Life in its finest. I think we're pretty lucky to be witness to the progression of time. We've seen babies being born, new romances grow, and the passing of old friends. Life... I love it!

I've got a mug of East India Company's "Royal Breakfast" tea to start my morning, and a planned trip downstairs to visit the Food Lady. Busy day today, with a morning for reading and chores, followed by an afternoon jam session with friends, then a big buffet restaurant dinner with Dr. Bookspan and her husband, followed by my giving HER a guitar lesson! Husband Paul came to the Fencing salle on Saturday for a lesson in the basics of foil and epée, and tonight it's Jolie's turn to learn. We are never too old to learn something new! But first, one more mug of tea!
