Kindle 3 -- Can I store multiple bookmarks? How?

Hi all,

I bought the Kindle version of a non-fic book (a weightlifting book, if you must know!), and I want to bookmark the references for how to perform different lifts, so that I can take my Kindle to the gym and page back and forth between bookmarks.

So, is there a way to create multiple bookmarks within the one book?

I can only ever make one at a time, myself, but I hope I'm just missing something.

You can have multiple bookmarks, just create them like you normally do. There should be a list of them under the menu, view notes and marks.

You can have as many bookmarks as you want. Easiest way to set (or clear) a bookmark is to tap the top right corner of a page. When you say that you can only create one bookmark, what errors are you experiencing when you try to create more?

Hi guys,

Thanks for replying. HarryT -- Kindle 3 doesn't have a touch screen, so I don't set bookmarks via tapping the screen. I set them through the menu.

I don't get any error message when I try to create a second bookmark within the same book, it simply overrides the previous one.

On the Kindle Keyboard, press "Alt+B" to set or clear a bookmark on the current page.

Try a reset, if the Kindle is not behaving properly.

Hi Harry -- that's not my question. I know how to set a bookmark in a book. How do I set more than one bookmark simultaneously within a single book?

For example: If I'm reading Bob's Book, how do I set a bookmark on pages 100, 200 and 300 at the same time?

Bookmarks are completely independent. You can set them on as many separate pages as you wish. Forgive me for asking, but have you read the Kindle User Guide? All this is clearly explained in there.

Very easily -- all you have to do is open to pages 100, 200, and 300 at the same time, then tap the top right corner.

The thing about manuals is that they are usually written by people who know exactly how to do thing x on device y and often don't think to make it clear enough for a new user to follow. I had the same sort of problem with figuring out how to scroll down the TOC of books on my Paperwhite at 1st. Took me a bit of trial and error to work out exactly how to do it.

Tapping the corner on a K3 won't get you far, it's not a touch screen

Or do whatever the usual method is for making a bookmark -- the point still stands, the trick is doing it all simultaneously.

I feel like the original question is still unclear. Why would you want to set up a bookmark on three different pages simultaneously? Is the expectation that the one bookmark would open all three pages at once?

I think that the OP meant having 3 bookmarks exist simultaneously, not setting them all at once.
