I wonder which e-ink device has a web browser good enough to display this forum and, if possible, hotmail and facebook.

Is it to early to ask such a question or is there some hope? |

Use the Mobileread mobile site version: http://www.mobileread.mobi

No ereader is really good at showing websites, so you may want to look for a cheap tablet, but as long as you use the mobile versions it should mostly work. |

Thanks. I know they are not the best when it comes to browsing, yet one of them can be better than others. I wish to know which one is.

I saw a comment yesterday from someone reading MR on an Aura HD, so I tried my Kobo Glo. The mobile site works well. Some of the links are small and can be a bit hard to press, but I can zoom in. The problem will be replying. I find the onscreen keyboard is fine for a few words, but I wouldn't want to write a reply even as short as this one.

It works pretty well on my Kindle Touch too. I suspect most ereaders will do all right with a properly-optimized mobile site, and the real difference will be if the device is just slow in general.

Obviously, the e-ink Nook is the exception simply because they removed the browser.

A rooted Android e-reader (Nook ST, Kobo) will be best because you can install a variety of browsers.

By rooted android: do you mean hacked? And do you mean that only lightened ereaders give a good internet experience? |

There's no need to hack. Since you have not yet made the mistake of buying something that's jailed or locked up in some way, you can get a proper full-blown linux device with a pixelqi screen. In particular, xo-1 touch, xo-4 touch, xo-4 tablet...

I read mobile version of this forum using Kobo Mini and posted to a thread. This while in hospital for 4 days. Slow to post with on screen keyboard. Tablet with blue tooth keyboard was much better for posting. Kobo was really ok and better than just watching TV.

Kindle paperwhite 2. No need to use the mobile site. But is a little hard to press links and often press the name under a thread, instead of the thread.
